Do D2D's get suspended for Christmas ?

Since Christmas is approaching fast, and this will undoubtedly result in a huge increase in mail and packets, I am wondering does the RM have the sense to suspended D2D for this period. I have not worked as a postie over Christmas but common sense would suggest that this would be the sensible thing to do, however, from my experience in RM they don't really do common sense. So do D2D's get suspended over the Christmas period ?

Last year we had one for the week Mon 13th to Sat 18th December but none the last week up to Christmas

They used to get suspended for the xmas pressure now they don't but like LL we never had any anyway.

Common sense would generally point in the direction of packets, greetings cards and the like that customers actually expect to be prioritised. Sadly this is Royal Mail and if I have to cut off in order to complete my daily quota of Dominos pizza and the other 5 pieces of detritus at the expense of what people expect us to be concentrating on then so be it...

Up till last year all D2D's were suspended over the 2 week period. Should be the same this year.

Sadly they , might not be ,as part of the agreement which allowed D2D's to increase in number,( just as the payment method changed from a per item to lump sum based on hours worked i.e. FT's get more than PT's ), there is no reason why there couldn't be D2D's during the pressure.Unfortunately the Pegasus portal won't tell you more than a couple of weeks ahead what the situation about D2D's will be so you'll be guessing right the way to the end of November.Maybe we'll a DFS sofa's D2D about the January sales.Hurrah.

Your union has agreed with Royal Mail that this is part of your daily workload so you can forget about any relief at Xmas, do not forget big Billy and Dave Ward agreed this. They said they are doing us a favour, protecting our jobs as we have very little to do each day.

Ahhhhh I love this, give me 20 D2Ds over Christmas and I'll do them but only up until my hours are up, remember that you DON'T need to do OT just you contracted hours

Absolutley, I cannot wait to see them greedy Linos lining up pleading with us to do overtime. It,s gonna be great, 4 hours of indoor and 2and a half outdoor (7 a day contract). Might even put a sprig of holly on the bags I leave.
