Had a postcard arrive with a Wilding on it ,the managers reckoned rm had been changing machinery down in the West Country and found it underneath
Sadly it never got delivered , our office at the time was under pressure from the local paper and it would have been used as
another 'post is late again story' so it never came back to my frame.

But was it a decimal Wilding, issued in limited numbers in 2002 for the fiftieth anniversary of them ?

I had a letter last week with two 12 1/2p stamps on it. The letter also had a xmas stamp from last year on it!!!
it was posted last week as well by the frank mark.
now the stamps have to be older than 12 years, the 1/2p coin went out of circulation in 1984 and stopped becoming legal tender then as well.

12½p was the basic second class rate, and 15½p first class, from 1982 to 1983.

Yes, indeed, you knew where you were with the Wildings, seventeen values from ½d to 1s 6d issued 1952-3 and nothing changed until 1967-8, except the 2d printed in a lighter shade of brown, the 4d as a Parliamentary Conference commemerative in 1957 and the 11d discontinued around then.

Of course , she would only have done the portrait .I had never thought about that so I take my hat off to the above as well

When we had an office refit about 10 years ago there were about 6 letters found behind an old 48 box frame which had been screwed to the wall. One was on my walk and was a bank statement from 1976

I was told to deliver it and as i approached the large house a mature man was outside washing his car. I said something like "i dont suppose a Mr Smith lives here" and he said yes It turns out it was for him

Luckly he found the whole thing quite funny and told me the next day he had taken pleasure in reading the old statement which had took him back to a time when he was just starting a family.
