6AM alarm this morning, my induction beckoned at 9 am. Although only an hours drive away i didnt want to be late. So the initial wait seemed to be forever, sat in a quiet waiting room with not so much as a hi.
after a wait of about half an hour or so we were collected from reception and taken to a training classroom( a bit like school) where we sat around a table and was told to sign an attendance sheet, this was to make sure we get paid
. after this the guy leading the induction came up with a good idea to seat us next to our future colleagues who were also new starters.So the day panned out as you expect, health and safety this and that. then a break for 20 or so minutes. after this break it was time to stick on a few dvds, not a big blockbuster mind. just some bloke going over a few health and safety and security procedures, some of which are very informative. iv found out my postie doesnt exactly follow the book.
Lunch soon followed, a nice surprise to see that the canteen is relatively cheep
after lunch we discussed more about security, making sure we knew what our responsibilities were. then we went to how mail travels through the network, all very informative stuff. and then we shuffled on to diversity, we all know that its a major topic in life these days so we had a good discussion about it to end the induction.
Tomorrow i start at my DO, really looking forward to it.
the both of us doing one frame, it helped to have an extra pair of hands but it didnt help by both of us getting in each others way. all the while sorting post we were taken away separately to be shown bits and bobs ( PDA etc..). once all the mail was sorted it was time for bundles, nice and easy enough, then putting it into the pouches also easy enough with a few pointers from our coach and assistant manager.
but cant wait until friday for more training and practice at something i really enjoyed today.
