When Doms are under pressure they say the funniest of things

Our office is now moving on to the 3rd phase in implementing P&L.

Given it’s a large office naturally P&L is being brought in, in phases however it seems now that the DOM is in rather a hurry to rush in as much as poss.

P/Ters have been asked whether or not they want to increase their hours to cover the prep time. Not quite sure though if this is a permanent thing or not haven’t really understood that bit.

Anyway the Rep went to the dom with a list of names of who would be happy to increase their hours. When it got to my name (I’m a p/t) & the rep said I didn’t want to increase my hours the reply was,

“RM are looking to stop employees performing O/T at other units”

This response is because the dom is aware I perform o/t at another office. If that is the case does this mean that delivery staff will not be shipped around from unit to unit & the rm in house casual agency staff will not be able to work at more than 1 office?

similar lines to your overtime,,,at our office 4 or 5 lads MOST nights approx 5pm-9pm go to the local mail centre,,,ive heard there really understaffed there so these lads are doing o/t there,,,,now our d.o.m stops them if all the walk overtime in our office aint covered,,,he was shouting out this morning,,,"theres 2/3rds of a walk here if it aint covered you 4 aint going to ............ for overtime"
hehe it sounds funny as he shouts it,,,,and sure enough 1 of the group are that desperate he knows he gets it covered

You've got to laugh but on a more serious note are they able to enforce this & is rm looking to stop o/t being done at a different office other than the one you are employed at.

well you,re home office is supposed to be first and foremost, then, if there,s none you can opt to go to other offices to get overtime. but as you say, they can and WILL enforce a ban at another office if you refuse o/t at you,re home office.

Happens at ours too. If you are doing a collection you must complete your duty no matter how long it takes.

How exactly can a manager stop you going to another office (outside your duty time obviously)? What you do outside your contracted hours is none of their business. I agree your office should come first, but if you have already agreed to do OT in another office because there is none in you own office and then things change at the last minute (someone goes sick) it does not seem right that you should drop the other office in the crap either.
