P&L at Xmas, its gonna be a nightmare?

MY guess is, is that by the time you get out only 1 round maybe completed, then the next day the other? In our office most days we are still on sorting in a normal week at 8.40am. What chance at Xmas do we have?

Yep i agree

I am doing an 8 hr day over xmas pressure and what does not get delivered by me can be put out as docket.

Yes I agree too. I don't think who ever came up with this idea really thought about Xmas when he had the brain storm?

I suppose in the past we (well my office) have always felt a conscience and a duty to our customers to deliver all the mail by xmas eve. This was fine when you could complete a delivery (with a normal workload) in less than 3 hrs and xmas only put an hour or so on top. However with P&P your normally looking at 4hr + delivery before you start adding parcels and extra mail. Its just too much being out for 5.30-6 hrs.

There is no way i'm working more than my 8 hours, I hope management understand that they can't expect us to just carry on & on. I bet they have not even thought about how they are going to clear it all/

It,s getting to that time when an old f.rt like me can no longer read the mail after about 3pm because of the fading light, so with later starts, any chance of overtime is out of the question, if they want mail delivered to the correct doors.

In my office we always have staff in at night on SA/night duties or both doing the IPS over christmas. This means very little if any IPS for us to do so we can get out a decent time and complete the deliveries on time. I would have thought this was standard in all DOs tbh

No, quite right, they set the staffing levels at agreed times of the year and then the idea is to "phase up" whereby postmen and women magically appear out of nowhere ,fully trained and ready for action.

The problem with that is under park&loop there is only so early you want the guys to go out,and a set meal relief to be adhered to.
The last thing we want is guys running out,skipping their meal relief and completing 5hr deliveries.
So....the bottom line is,as a rep i don't want the IPS advanced at the cost of ridiculous delivery spans...management do...but i don't.

I agree that Christmas is going to be even more of a Nightmare than usual by the looks of it.

Some offices are Failing Regularly already! Due to cuts in Posties/Duties.

We hear Bournemouth is in BIG Trouble and close to getting Fined. Don't feel the need for a new post...but does anyone know anything more concrete? Apparently it's, "All Hands to the Pumps" and Managers are trying to get Posties sent into Bournemouth from all over the area!

Last year i did a third of the walk one day ,the other the next and so on ,but we had 18" of snow for a few weeks.I bet moira's praying for heavy snow again this year so it can be used as an excuse

Yeah Bournemouth is pretty manic at the moment, they've just had another section had the revisions put in (this week) ive been moved there for around six weeks, pretty much everyday theres a duty or 2 not being delivered. Apparently they've hired around 20 recruits to come in the next couple of weeks, and god knows how many they managed to pinch from other offices Its a good job im leaving RM in 3 weeks because i reckon id definitely be there for xmas and a few weeks beyond. I hate going to a place you dont know, its like starting from scratch again
