Recently whilst on the IPS i have noticed that batches of letters and flats have one of those removable barcode machine type stickers RIGHT over the address so you have to peel them off before you can read it. There not even stuck in the same place either so you may have a batch of flats with the address on the other side but you still have a barcode sticker over it
I am begining to think someone is doing it on purpose

This happens all the time. Whether or not it is deliberate is a matter for debate, but the fact is that it really wastes time during the sorting process.
Been going on for a long time. So we have to waste time picking them off and in frustration drop them on the floor. Then the poor cleaners have to waste extra time scraping them off the floor.
All could be avoided if they weren't stuck over the adresses in the first place!

Yeah - it's Mr Tops2k. It's the machine that puts the sticker on.
Interestingly its not always over the address I've repeatedly seen then stuck over the orange signed for barcode making me and lots of others in my office believe that its being done (as others have said) on purpose.

It is true.
I have a mate who works in the mail centre and his job is to put the barcodes over the address.
He even gets a leadership allowance for this job.
Sometimes if work is slow he turns random letters round the wrong way in trays.

Can it not be adjusted ? I could understand if it always stuck the sticker in the same place but it really seems to hunt down the address window and stick the smegger right across the road
I dont throw them on the floor but re-stick them on the mail but it takes a surprisingly long amount of time.

The machine should stick the sticker in the same position on all the flats (bottom left hand corner i think??) so as long as collections mail is trayed correctly then the flats should go into the machine the correct way round so there shouldnt be any barcodes over the addresses. We have posters about this all over the place in the area where collections mail is trayed in our DO so it goes in the trays the right way round.
