mis-deliveries and other couriers

about a month or so ago i was covering a duty (p&l) with another reserve all week.
on the last day i delivered a parcel and the bloke said an old man had just fetched him some parcels down that wasn't meant for him, he wasn't pissed off at all, quite polite considering!

there are 4 of the same name on the duty but rd, st, ave, court, a nightmare to prep.
i apologized on my behalf of my other looper, but after i thought "hang on, i sorted all the parcels out and would have put them all together"
then when i got to the van i looked at our list for the day and no "60 main st and 60 main rd"
other reserve said he'd not delivered anything else that could have been mis-delivered, so we couldn't have cocked up,
i forgot all about it as i got used to the regulars always blaming covers, water off a ducks back.

i now have the duty permanent and my new oppo joked about him saying "thank feck ya back, right pair o w*****s last week"
i wonder how much bad feeling/press or whatever comes from other couriers cock ups and joe public automatically blames the postie?

was accused of doorstepping a parcel once by a tennant she said id left it there at around half 8,, didnt even get out the depot till 9:30, and dont get till hers till at least 1130 most days

Im forever seeing doorstepped packets. HDNL seem the worst for this...

One of our old delivery managers (he was one of the good guys) was nagged and nagged by a customer who wasn't happy at the state of her photos from Truprint (this was a few years ago), she insisted that he go out to see the state of them, so eventually relented and when he got there they had Dairy Crest all over them, because it was the milkman who delivered them and mashed them up.

A few years back we had the local council deliver thier own council tax letters. They paid local workers 20p a drop.

On my delivery there was a "place" and a "close" with the same road name. I went around on a monday morning and had a plenty of pissed of customers handing me council tax 2nd class business post bills for the wrong addresses. After i had said sorry for the 3rd time i asked when it had been delivered and was told Sunday morning .

I went back and explained the situ to my dom and he told me not to take any back or redeliver them. So i had a real great time (not) trying to explain to customers that although they were in 2nd class enverlopes we did not deliver them. In the end people just wrote on them and shoved them in letter boxes whereupon i ended up delivering them any way. What a frigging nightmare that was.
