So called postal 'expert' on breakfast news today

Said royal mail now have a free reign on price rises, and will probably rise the cost of a first class stamp to over £1 - £2 ?!

Blamed the costs on 'generous postie pay rises'. Ermm where?

Where do they get these people from?

It's a favourite tactic of the Government: Get "experts" to go on the news, and tell the Public that Posties (or any other workers in a soon to be Privatised service for that matter) are getting paid over the odds, and that, that is the reason for a poor and/or expensive service. That way, they can avoid a Public backlash against themselves (and potentially cause a backlash against the employees), or the ones they bring in to run the service down. Then they can get the Privatisation legislation through, on the grounds that the new owners are likley to get everything running efficiently. The Public generally fall for the ruse, as they don't generally have access to the facts. They've done this to us before, and will do so again, if the next attempt to Privatise RM fails.

This is usually accompianed by changes to the service itself. Such as lower quality of service, and delays. We've seen this happening for several years now: Later starts, and massive cuts in resources. Which make the deliveries later, and later; replacing experienced staff, with poorly trained (inadequate training, NOT any problem with the new staff themselves). Think about it: If you didn't have first hand knowledge of the nature of the changes we've seen over the last several years, and just saw steadily lowering quality of service. What would you think?
Particularly when "experts" either linked to the Government, the "competition" (like they'd even know where to start! ), or those who want to buy RM out. Come on the News, claiming that the staff are a belligerant bunch of money grabbing Luddites.

What we need, what we have always needed, is a CWU spokesman who can actually string a few sentances together to make the public aware of what is happening with the postal service and how they treat thier employees!

The CWU have been working with RM /Government for years and they wont help you! My understanding is a full time (paid for by the membership) Div REP sneaked in an ammendment that drew a line under our pensions at the last conference even though we all 92% voted for no change in our pension pre 2010 and we have less than a week for branches to contact members and get their thought,s vote and send in an ammendment. Has anyone heard about this from their branch, had a say? Has you branch sent it on to the "new CWU pension forum? No! Many thanks for that one MW of LONDON! Oh and he uses RMC as well.

there is no point watching any of the news channels ,it wasnt until i become a postie and the strikes a little while ago i witnessed the wheels of misimformation come out, these channels are just propoganda vessels for the oppression of the people ,its not just with royal mail its across the board doin the job i do opened my eyes to em,they call themselves journalists if they are they should take out the bias and report even handed and fairly, as for the names of sky and the bbc who do they think they are. dispicable low lifes and as for the so called experts they want put up against a wall and ....................................................................................................; kindest regards wolfie smith from tooting
