weve been doing park and loop a while now and there are regularly people still carrying or worse, and on top when they ask you to do a part of a round its always a bag or so which is carried .what way is the right way ,im using the trolley since we started should i bother

i,ll be honest...a bag is quicker so depends what you wanna do.stretch the day out or get home.get done quicker gets my vote!

you should not be using the pouches anymore

he could get suspended for refusing to give you a trolley & remember if you dont use a trolley the whole loop can be no more than 5 kilo's! so if you dont use a trolley be prepared to get slowed down by moving the van 100 times per day

Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I work indoors. But I was under the impression that the trollies were introduced to reduce the number of muscularskelital problems caused by carrying the bags.

If I am right about the reson for introducing the trollies, then you should always use them. Because if you don't, and you get injured, the Managers will blame you for failing to use the right equipment. However if I'm wrong, then it won't make a difference.

There is no agreement that bags,even 5kg bags can be used as an alternative to trolleys.
When the duty is planned a risk assessment is done to decide the correct delivery method for that duty.
Unless the duty is predominantly stairs or the terrain is deemed unsuitable it should either be LWT or HCT.
Once that has been decided that is the mandatory delivery method for that duty...end of.

We've got such an in-grained culture in this Business of Posties that don't give a s**t about anyone else and just please themselves, that even making something MANDATORY doesn't seem to work! FT

I can't see Management, Or Reps, bothering themselves with the enforcement of (what to some) is an necessary procedure. Both parties prefer the ,"Anything for a Quite Life" approach. Perhaps when these Security Types are cruising around checking on Hi-Vis and ID cards they should add, Using Correct Delivery Means? And not only picking up the Postie on it but Reporting the Manager for not enforcing it.

I can't see any other way of ensuring the correct equipment is used ...unless Managers start Disciplining people who don't use it and Mangers are themselves Disciplined for not making sure Deliveries are done properly!

No...you're thinking about a manager.
reps...represent they don't sneak about like the other side even if the motivation is the greater good.

That's the point I was trying to make FT. The Managers don't give a damn, because it's helping them if "We" are cutting corners. And as you rightly put it the Union Reps shouldn't be "Helping" the Management with their job, especially not against their own Members.

So who does that leave to police the system? Perhaps some of these OFtel/OFwatch/OFcomms who ever? Thought they were meant to be making sure we're doing the job properly?
