contract hours vs pay slip dilemma

Post by POSTWOMAN »

Hello,

i am on 29.50 hrs/week contract but on payslip it shows 29.30. I called HR but he said it was another way of puting half-an-hour,, blah blah.

lets say pay is £9/hr ;
contract of 29.50hr x £9/hr = 265.5 vs 29.30 as on payslip = £263.7, (difference is £1.8/week or £7.2/month or £86.4/year)
when computing the wages it seems like am losing £86.40 per annum or =http://www.spartoo.co.uk/Fidji-VINCENTI ... &sx=F&sh=1 :Very Happy

Can anyone clarify this situation cuz it looks dodgy to me comparing to what I learnt about decimals during my GCSE. :hmmmm

you are being paid correctly, it would help if they put 29:30 instead of 29.30

The .50 in this scenario represent half an hour, you are not being diddled so chill!

Royal Mail use 29.3 as a time function rather than as a decimal function - which is why your are getting the 1/5th error. What you need to do is find out your hourly rate and multiply that by 29.5 that should match your gross pay on your pay chit (less any annual leave purchase or other deductions) - If it doesn't then you may have a problem.

However I think 99.99% of the time it will be correct.

Basic pay on contract

Post by POSTWOMAN »

My contract says the starting pay will be at the rate of £312.85/week
my contract was made in March end 2010.
Can someone point out how many hours they talking about aka full-time hrs that pays £312.85; so I can calculate my hourly wage to get my pro-rata salary

Now ur logic makes sense to me. Just need to find my hourly wage & then multiply with 29.5 = that amount needs to be on payslip.

But wtf is wrong with royal mail it is changing the laws of mathematics.
i knew about american english now its Royal mail mathematics. lol

It appears at .30 this means half and hour in RM world.

If it appears .50 , you probably have a whatever hours 50 contract.

Don't you receive wage-slips on a weekly basis and possess a rudimentary understanding of basic arithmetic?
