LTB 869/11 Royal Mail Group - Employee Engagement/Communications Initiatives

TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS

Dear Colleague

Royal Mail Group - Employee Engagement/Communications Initiatives

The company has advised the Union that they are undertaking a number of new initiatives aimed at providing more regular information to employees on the performance of the business and also to gain a better understanding of employee views.

Local Briefings on Business Performance - Going forward the company will hold monthly local briefings to explain the headline figures of how the company is performing against a range of measures. We understand this will be undertaken at WTLL Sessions.

IPSOS MORI Surveys - The company has contracted IPSOS Mori to undertake all future employee surveys. The Union were given the opportunity to meet the Directors of IPSOS Mori and have been briefed on the approach they intend to take.

The first National Mori Survey is already underway and the company have told the Union they will share the results of this with us in the near future. We understand the intention is for the Mori Surveys to eventually replace ‘Have your Say’.

The company say these initiatives are part of a new more open and transparent approach. In particular, they say they want to understand how employees are feeling and respond more to their views. To demonstrate this we understand the business will now operate with a stronger focus on people and customer issues. Eventually, the intention is to directly link 25% of managers’ bonuses to what the staff say about how they are treated.

The Union is discussing with the company how these initiatives fit with the commitments within Business Transformation to improve industrial and employee relations. In the circumstances, we would ask Branches to monitor these initiatives and where appropriate, provide us with your views. Any enquiries on the content of this LTB should be addressed to the DGS(P) Department.

Yours sincerely

Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary (P)

Royal Mail have 2 problems IMHO

I don't actually think they care about their staff & RM managers without a shadow of a doubt are protected from above when bullying their staff.

Good that staff views are to be carried out by Mori because "have your say" was corrupt

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
