Post by Mr_Fercoff »

Wish to lodge a large "G" against my manager and a colleage for harrasement. :Boo hoo!

Can anyone advise on how this is done in RM please? Phone number? Via manager?

Many thanks in advance
We have to get very militant with some of these employers to say there's no shortcuts, our people have a right to a fair day's wage for a fair day's pay, and we've got to get that done. And that's going to happen.

Welcome to the fold Mr F. :Very Happy
As Keith says..1st Stop Talk to your Local Union Rep. This begs the question.."Are you in the CWU"? If you're not then he probably wont help you. Simple solution join the Union.

The Stage 1 Grievance is normally dealt with by your Manager, so if you've got a Grievance against him you'll probably have to go straight to Stage 2 Grievance (Which is a different form and is dealt with outside your Office by another Manager) However the Stage 2 Grievance form asks you "Have you previously raised this matter with your Line manger"? Yes/No. Therefore you'll probably have to go into his Office, with your Union Rep as Witness, and "Discuss" the harassment. Take notes, remember what he says and some members would also suggest recording the "Discussion" on your Mobile or MP3. Just so you can recall what's been said. :whistle

That will normally be treated as your Stage 1 Grievance you can then put in the stage 2..If you are not happy with the result...he may say he's very sorry he didn't realise he was such an asshole and it won't happen again. :shock: In a perfect world but then we do work for RM! Your Manager may be able to deal with your harassment claim against your Colleague as he is his/her Manager. Your rep should be able to Advise you further as to whether you need to put in 2 separate Grievances. Good Luck :Very Happy

Phone up HR using the number on your payslip and ask for a copy of the grievance procedure and some forms. You can print it off at work too if you have access to the intranet.

This site has a good guide to launching grievances:

http://www.londonlawcentre.org.uk/publications.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Download the pdf of "Taking Grievances" by Tamara Lewis.

You want to take on your rep and your DOM, Mr_F, I like your style. However, if these two jokers are the only witnesses, it's one against two. If there are other witnesses, you should get written statements from them but be prepared for everyone to bravely run away.

You may not get justice going down the "G" route this time but I am confident that you will make sure these two characters get their comeuppance.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
