Since we started P/L us part timers were asked to come in 1 1/2 hours early every day to help with sorting .
6 months later we are still doing it.
Is this the same across the board after revision ?

Yep! Get together and ask for the hours to made permanent in your contract and if they say no you stop doing the extra, a few weeks should sort it out. You need to organise with your P/T workers and decide to do it and stick it out and you all can win. Direct action gets the goods!eastie wrote:Since we started P/L us part timers were asked to come in 1 1/2 hours early every day to help with sorting .

I was thinking of coming in at 7.30am instead of 6.15am due to the harrassment we all get to sort faster FASTER FASTER.

Re: part timers coming in early since P/L started
If you are being asked to do ANY work outside of your normal hours and you are NOT BEING PAID, THEN YOU ARE NOT INSURED! If an accident occurs, then all the DOM has to say is , 'I didn't tell him to come in early, he shouldn't have been there until whenever.
The other side of the coin is that if you are doing any work that helps the operstion outside of your normal agree hours/terms then this sets the situation for FULL time staff to be reduced to part time status in the future because you as a part timer are managing to do it now, so the argument is lost already.
In other words, what is more likely to happen is that Full timers will be coerced in to going part time rather than the other way around.
Why?
Well because part timers ARE DOING THE WORK of FULL timersd already without argument.
Make sure that what ever you are asked or encouraged to do above the 'norm', that you make the boss aware that you do it under protest and he either increases your hours/terms etc and that you are PAID for every minute that you work!
Royal Mail senior management keep using that phrase 'the business'. Well you go to work to earn money for the work you do, not to do favours to help the bosses or your colleagues help the bosses by you being out of pocket.
