some advice about managers pressuring you whilst off sick

hi peeps just wondering how you go about your managers pestering you to go back to work telling you to just take parasetamol and go back to work..

its not like i have time off sick all the time its maybe once in a blue moon and they treat you like crap...

just wondering what i can do about it ?

Tell them you want all communication in writing (so you have proof of harrassment).

ha thanx its a bit of a joke tho when you call in sick then all they can do is think they're a doctor telling you what to do

ive never known an employer like it. they even call you asking when you'll be back in bloomin crackers company policy !

i am off work at the moment after a knee op

royal mail have known about my operation date for the last six months

they know i will be off for a min of 6 to 8 weeks (leg in plaser)

after two weeks off i get a phone call from my line manager about my absence and he just stated that an employer has a duty of care to kep in contact with employees off sick

poor thing, talk about treading on egg shells, but it goes to show that this is a royal mail policy to conduct these calls to people on the sick, and do a record that these calls have been made.

to me this is blatant b & h , but he was polite, prob because of my posistion in the branch

Typical behaviour from them.. Know exactly what you mean, had similar myself fairly recently.

Suddenly they become a doctor, have you tried taking such a thing, did that not work, what about this that the other, or have you been to the doctor (do they not know how f***ing difficult it is getting an appointment thes days?)
And not forgetting the classic line:
When are you back in - like I know how long the illness will last, I'm not f***ing pyschic, it lasts as long as it lasts and I'll be back when I'm better, probably a few days yet, now f**k off, leave me to fester in peace with my illness and get some real work done!

If they harras you into coming back sooner.Then report it to your local GP.Believe me its one of there pet hates as it undermines there profession.Therefore will sign you off for longer
A couple of years ago i informed my manager that i had a date set for the snip in which i went ahead with.Advised that i could not work for a Week afterworks,in which i let my boss know about.After that Week passed i came back,and before i chance to sign in,was taken away for interview and put straight don for a first stage

thanx for all your advice anyway's people went to doc's and she's signed me off for a week due too fatigue and bad migranes also i have to go for a blood test next week because i keep falling asleep at random times thru the day and im just plain knackerd all the time feel like i have no energy !!!!
