I have heel spurs..............which feel like walking on a red hot metal ball but I find stretching my calf muscles and painkillers help.

How does stretching your painkillers help? :left:

I have pain in my right heel after work although i have not helped to stop this somewhat by getting some gel insoles from fleabay

two pairs for £7.99 delivered

feel weird to walk with for the first couple of days but then you get used to it

Hope this helps

yes - I ended up with plantar fasciitis - (google it)

the only thing that helped that was to rest, which hurt. Then 'gentle exercise'

so, the 90 or so tenement flats I deliver to every day, they helped.

It's all calmed down now, but anti inflamatories and stretching calf muscles are the best plan.

I got the tendon pain in my left anckle BEFORE getting the RM Job.

I find that it feels fine while doing the job but after only a few mins resting or a night watching telly it is agony to walk again until the tendon has "warmed up" again.

After 6 months I went to the doc had got some pain killers and some ibruprofen gel to rub on. Still hurts tho. I might try the insoles as suggested earlier.

The doc says he gets it aswell and it can last for a year or so..... joy !!

I used to do quite a lot of walking (walked hadrians wall in the weeks before my start datee whilst i had some free time) as a hobby anyway so Im OK whilst doing it, just the next day

If you are not used to walking it is no surprise that you will get a reaction.

Hopefully it will pass as you gain experience, most new posties also shed a few pounds when they start and that will take some

strain off as well .

Good fitting footwear should help and you could experiment with gel or foam insoles which you can often get cheaply at Aldi 's and

sometimes pound shops. I used to wear thick socks or two pairs of thin socks and made sure my laces were tied very tightly

and this helped me a great deal.

As an aside ', many posties will use ibuprofen pills for their painkilling and anti-inflammatory properties but it is extremely

important when using them to follow the instructions regarding eating of food and taking of tablets as I know more than one

postie that developed gut problems not taking them as advised by the manufacturer !

Get some quality sport insoles with arch support, got a pair in my RM trainers. Could hardly put my foot on the floor when I got out of bed. The insole will take your weight off the spur, Will make all the difference.

yeah i did
what i did though was get a quite expensive oair of running shoes.

they were great int he dry weather.
in the wet you have to use others coz youd defo take a tumble if you were having to walk faster than a normal person would.

Ah the pain barrier

Most go through it unless your young and very fit. I still get stiff lower legs after work and thats with 23 years :left:

Get some good quality cotton socks to prevent blisters.

Comfortable trainers helped me,then as i got used to it went on to the Magnums, swapped them over daily to break them in,or wore them just inside and swapped them when i went out.
Due to not wearing PPE (The Magnums/boots/trainers) i would advise getting a doctors note to cover you for a while then you would be covered if you have an AOD.
