4 Years ago i took a buy down but i explained to my manager at the time this could not be for ever as i was only 40 years old.He said that would'nt be a problem because after 3 years i would be able to go back to full time.That time has now passed and due to office savings full time contracts are no longer given out.I have now got an offer of full time work away from royal mail but was wondering if i had any chance of voulantry redundcy as i have nearly 25 years service.

That would be a huge gamble (in my opinion) to wait for Voluntary redundancy. You would have to wait for a revision, and hope that the revision includes a preference exercise, and that IF the revision got rid of duties redundancies were offered, and that you were the most senior of those applying. That's a lot of hurdles to jump and still no guarantee of getting it.

You may have to wait years for a revision.
RM may not want to have a preference exercise.
The revision may not displace duties (I know )
Redundancies may not be offered - redeployment may be RMs choice.

As I understand it VR is not something you can apply for during normal times, its something that is offered under very specific conditions, and even then its not a certainty.
