changeover

have been told by my manager that i cannot do the changeover, as they have enough drivers and cant afford to pay for another test, i want a van so i can go out in it on overtime to help pay the mortgage. have i got any right to have a changeover?

As the saying goes, every cloud has a sliver lining... Delivery overtime will take longer delivering by bag/bike or LWT or HCT compared to driving to/from the depot with a van, which means more pay! Or is there only collection o/t available at your place?

nope there is all sorts of o/t just wouldnt mind doing the packets/collections after my normal round

ermm ..... no. You don't have the right to demand a changeover, but you could come and work at our place, we can't get enough volunteers

speak to your collections manager as he/she can arrange the changeover for you, if your normal manager doesnt want to.

In all honesty,a change over should and fore-most be for a duty,(collections for example is a skilled duty). Jobs,(full time),are a priority,overtime is not guaranteed!

I have not done a changeover in the 3.5 years I have been working for RM.

and on my second day in the job I was driving a large iveco van delivering to the local industrial estate and day four was delivering the whole round myself and this continued for 2 months.

I was asked to do a changeover about 7 months ago, but was told on the morning of it ( a tuesday ) and told the manager that I was not gonna be hanging around for 3 hours without getting paid to do the changeover so it got cancelled.

I still use a van everyday on my delivery walk, although now I use a bipper and its the size of a smoby car



so I dont think it really counts as a van

Doorstepped,if you are driving for RM and have never done a change over then your screw could be in serious trouble.

I agree with you POSTMAN, however I should have been given my changeover before I even drove a van for RM.

because I work in a very small office, we are always getting new managers, since I have been there we have had at least 6 with the longest lasting around 12 months.

I have no problem doiung a changeover at all, as long as I have got 1 days notice and not told on the morning of it.

Agreed if you walk from collection to collection. However, the driving portion is a skill which you have to undergo assessment for (changeover).

went and saw my DOM about this today and said to him " what would happen if I was to have an accident in my van and have not done a changeover " he said " I would be in the s**t but no where as deep as he would be " lol

my changeover will now be done asap :)
