IHR lump sum

Hi wondered if any of you guys could advise. ive just been released due to IHR (not fit to work within certain time perios). I already took my pension benefits earlier this year when i turned 60. I got the usual 34 weeks tax free and 12 week lieu of notice which i expected. however, i have received a statement of pay and tax for year 2011 (still waiting on P45) and the lump sum has been added to the assessable pay amount. i knew the pay in lieu would be added but didnt know whether the lump sum should have been. any advisors out there.

the pylon figure will be taxed

its prob because we are still in the 2011 tax year

speak to the royal mail tax office

i believe its the portsmouth office

speak to royal mail payroll as well

Postie59 ,I'm waiting on IHR, could I ask you how long it takes from getting your estimate for IHR to actual amount with leaving day ?

Did you have any disputes over holidays/days in lieu owed after receiving your final figure and if so how was this rectified ?

As said above, it's accessible pay but it's not taxed. Should have pay in lieu of holidays too if you have any left :)

Didn't happen that way with me. I got the proposal through with a last day of service printed on it. I could agree or appeal, desperate to get out, i agreed :) Then had a few days holiday to take that they hadn't taken into the agreement. Bank holidays that had been worked etc. I even worked the late Wednesday and Saturday on overtime even tho there was no job there for me

yep :) I was one of the rarities that hadn't had much time off from my injured knees as there was plenty of indoor work in our office, mainly streamline, for the whole area, they decided this was going so went into callers office where I was needed, but as it wasn't possible for me to do a duty.....

Don't get me wrong, I was still desperate to get out, I managed in the callers office, but went home in agony at the end of each shift, but if I had been out on a duty then i dare say I would have had a lot more time off sick.

You have my sympathy Mazza , people forget you are going to do a hell of a lot of moving and bending getting parcels for customers , not exactly ' light duties ' in my opinion.

As I said, I didn't mind it because it kept me in a job when I couldn't go out on a duty. But yes, if I had my time to do over again, I would have went sick with my knees rather than try to play ball with them.
