Moya Greene has done a few - heard of one in Scotland and there was a bit in the c(rap)ourier about one in London. I believe this is one thing she pushed when she worked at Canada Post - if you follow what's happening in Canada you'll know how successful it was for Posties - IIRC she also gets her fellow directors and managers to do the same.

Write a list of questions YOU as members want answered.
They definitely won't listen if you come across as a rabble.
Pick 3 or 4 who are confident to ask the most important questions.
Ignore what management want,drive the debate...do not be a passenger.
Above all be honest.

We, (Craigavon which comprises Portadown and Lurgan) had two managers down two weeks ago.

One was from London, the woman Barbara? from NI. They talked for 15 minutes about "where the business is", then we could raise any issues. It certainly didn`t paint the office manager or his underlings in a good light and as soon as the meeting was getting interesting the office manager called a halt, saying we had to get out on delivery.
Barbara told us there will be pain for everyone, she said she had 6 people working for her, now she does it all on her own. Begs the question what were those 6 people actually doing!

I found it to be a complete waste of time, these "managers" didn`t seem to be taking any of our points on board, trotting out the party line to everything.

Had one in ours a few months back no invite for the rep or anyone from the union, those that went were surprise surprise were hand picked by the dom, So much for that word what is it ? oh i know its Trust i'm sure i read that in the agreement ?, Well at the end of thier little meeting a action plan was made when the rep got hold of it it was torn up due to no involvement of the union so the twelve little pets did not get what they wanted and not one of them a union member, one nil to the union

p.s before any of you attend any of these so-called listening sessions ask yourself this can you really Trust them ?

Hmmm Some valid points raised here thank you guys.Just wonder why our office is selected.Will keep you informed of progress (or lack of progress) .I aint raising my hopes because weve all been there before havent we?

I agree with fishtank, prepare a list of questions/points you would like raised.

One guy at our meeting asked how, despite all the money spent, effiency drives etc, we used to deliver more mail in less time.
