Re: Rumours
Its being postponed at a lot of your smaller do,s because the savings just are not there ie they would need to invest tens of 1000s of pounds on vans and trolleys ect for a few hours savings and also pay out the agreed lump sums, so its more cost effective for them to leave the smaller offices as they are and try and cut hours through natural wastage ie when someone finishes dont replace them and absorb the duty, and stuff the agreement.circles wrote:Hello Boys and Girls, thought id post a rumour thats been doing the rounds in my d.o for the last few days.Apparently, park and loop is being suspended in the near-future because;and i quote "ITS BEEN AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER"-D.O Manager.Id just like to know if anyone else has been hearing the same thing.....Personally,im praying its true

Why would the suspension of park and loop be a cause for celebration?circles wrote:Hello Boys and Girls, thought id post a rumour thats been doing the rounds in my d.o for the last few days.Apparently, park and loop is being suspended in the near-future because;and i quote "ITS BEEN AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER"-D.O Manager.Id just like to know if anyone else has been hearing the same thing.....Personally,im praying its true
Walk sequenced mail will cut your indoor hours. The only way to maintain full time jobs is to extend the delivery span or to accept a predominantly p/t workforce.
If extending the delivery span still includes a bag on the shoulder that nana of yours won't be dancing into his old age.

Re: Rumours
walk sequenced mail has INCREASED our indoor work. we are on the primary for almost an hour longer than we were before they brought the bloody thing in. what a total waste of money. and its not just our office, im hearing this all over the place, there,s supposed to be between 75% and 90% of the mail sequenced when it comes from the mail centre, we are getting about 46/50%. it,ll be even less at christmas. plus the trays are ALL mixed up, you get other peoples mail, and sometimes not even for our office. teething problems they say, well its been in since early july. i would hate to have toothache for THAT long i know. its all fekt. happy daysclashcityrocker wrote:Why would the suspension of park and loop be a cause for celebration?circles wrote:Hello Boys and Girls, thought id post a rumour thats been doing the rounds in my d.o for the last few days.Apparently, park and loop is being suspended in the near-future because;and i quote "ITS BEEN AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER"-D.O Manager.Id just like to know if anyone else has been hearing the same thing.....Personally,im praying its true

Re: Rumours
It depends how you are interpreting this. Whether this means no Delivery Methods revision or no Park & Loop and that is very definitely not one and the same thing?
If the experience of our office is anything to go by, ‘park & loop’ has not been implemented but we have, none the less, undergone a delivery methods revision.
Any walks starting within a mile from the office have gone over to HCTs and any further than a mile from the office have become individual van duties.
We’ve got all the chaos, the failings, the use of geo-route and Pegasus, the unachievable workloads, and the frustrations that all the other offices have.We just ain’t got ‘p&l’.
Same sh*t, different means.

If park&loop is to be binned there has to be a plan b.
In my opinion plan b probably means scrapping the proposed 75/25 part-time/full-time mix and moving closer to 50/50 with some offices closer to 30/70.
HQ and the membership have some big decisions ahead.
My worry is that some half-assed compromise is reached to keep the ratio up involving vans as mobile pouch boxes and bags but not trolleys because the membership and management have already shown they cannot police the H&S side of that particular f****d up practice.
If this does come to pass Bob Gibson and Dave Joyce will be off my Christmas card list...forever.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: Rumours
thing is though fish, management and the union heirarchy have always arrogantly and strenuously stated that 'there is no plan b', and i can,t for the life of me see them eat humble pie. regardless of the rumours and to my utter regret, i think the shyte is here to stay. they may 'tweak' a few knobs as they say or make slight alterations but the trollies are staying. how they police it remains to be seen, maybe they will introduce on the spot suspensions and final warnings for people caught not using them, which would make people heed the warnings, but the h&s aspect of using them is too big to kick into the long grass or do a u turn on. it will be interesting to see what WILL happen. as for gibbo and joycie,,,, they,ve never been on my chrimbo card list.fishtank wrote:I'm with you.clashcityrocker wrote: Why would the suspension of park and loop be a cause for celebration?

Re: Rumours
Rep or not, revision or not, you need to show that there is sufficient work to maintain the ratio of PT/FT whatever it is with the workload as it is.north london driver wrote:one of another reasons to end this part-time slavery a 40/60 split of staffing is a jokespoodoo wrote:part time in our office is now about 40/60 and they all start miles before there starting time , cause the jobs are not doable and there worried bout keeping a job .

Re: Rumours
I don't know what sequenced mail has done for other offices if he's saying it is increasing the workload???? But in our office it's saving 50mins per man. You can prep a frame in about half the time. Also apart from a few minor missorts the sequenced mail is saving RM so much indoor time. Why everyone should be using the tools supplied to do the job and be doing the outdoor work properly.

Re: Rumours
because we are supposed to get between 75%&90% sequenced mail come in trays from the mail centre, but we are only getting about 46% sequenced, the rest has to be manually sorted, and now theres more of it. because of this we are on the sorting for up to an hour longer than we should be. there is no doubt you can prep a frame quicker, but thats when you,ve got the mail there ready to be prepped. we havent!! apart from that, sequenced mail does not do your d2ds for you,,,so when we do eventually come off the primary an hour later than normal, we still have 4 or 5 d2ds to put together, then prep into your frame BEFORE you start putting in you,re sequenced mail, then your manual mail.,,,,,then your flat, then your pkts. so by the time we are ready to go out we have saved feck all.smartbhoy wrote:I don't know what sequenced mail has done for other offices if he's saying it is increasing the workload???? The big question is how we get to a reduced full-time workforce.fishtank wrote: In my opinion plan b probably means scrapping the proposed 75/25 part-time/full-time mix and moving closer to 50/50 with some offices closer to 30/70.

I don't think they will want to pay out that number of VRs.
I do think they will want to use the Conduct Code as much as possible.

Re: Rumours
agreed, all these new managerial breeds are ALL hatchet men, if they can get you out via conduct, or attendance. they will. no wonder we hate them.
