Re: new starter
You work 6 days/week @ 5hrs/day. This allows you to bank a day each week for your week off.
You might be able to work your week off. It would depend on the staffing level in your DO.
You aren't just being used for the xmas rush. All xmas casuals are employed in Mail Centres, not Delivery Offices. The contract might be renewed -it would depend on any revision activity in the DO.
Good luck.

Re: new starter
RM or an agency ? There's a thread and lots of talk about agency recruitment on the forum at the moment, hence the question.wuffy wrote:what do you mean who recruited me?
WFIW I'm on the same contract as you. If you were recruited by RM that is.

Re: new starter
Been on it since late spring.
Overtime yes, getting actually paid for it? sometimes. The OT is daily and not a formal extra shift, just extended time. Make sure you fight your corner for getting paid OT - its a tricky thing being on a temp contract and getting paid fairly as not much security. Obviously DOs are different as are managers just be ready to battle with your manager if needs be. Not sure about extra shifts, probably others here will have a better take on it than me.

Some of them are out on delivery, it says in the job application you can choose.clashcityrocker wrote:All xmas casuals are employed in Mail Centres, not Delivery Offices. The contract might be renewed -it would depend on any revision activity in the DO.
Good luck.
We also need some people to deliver the mail to addresses in the UK, you will have the choice during your application to express a preference of processing, delivery or both.

Just ask for a green docket, fill it in daily, all OT has to be booked by a Sat morning to be included in the following weeks pay packet, keep a record of what you do in a diary, you can even ask for the docket to be photocopied.Blue29 wrote:Been on it since late spring.

Cheers for that. Yeah I now know about the docket - obviously was never told about it and was only mentioned when I being to raise concerns about not being paid fairly. There one docket that everyone shares in our DO. Not everything that is booked and given as actual comes through on the payslip. Arguing about things over a week later isnt possible. Honchos just walk off, etc. There is an art to claiming OT that I'm learning - on the temp contract I'd suggest its much harder to be paid for what you actually have done.Lateagainpostie wrote:Just ask for a green docket, fill it in daily, all OT has to be booked by a Sat morning to be included in the following weeks pay packet, keep a record of what you do in a diary, you can even ask for the docket to be photocopied.Blue29 wrote:Been on it since late spring.

Re: new starter
There shouldn't be, the same principles apply to all offices in RM, at ours all OT has to be booked on a green docket, insist on it, take the CWU rep with you, then see if they try to fob you off. you can also claim for belated if it hasn't been paidBlue29 wrote:Cheers for that.
