Wolverhampton to Go 100% Full time

Dont know about anyone else, but this news leaking out of the Wolverhampton office seems to be the proper way for the union to negotiate a revision to the benefit of members.

Apperently nearly 250 posties are to be made up to 36hrs and above and not a single bag-carrier left out in the cold.

Even the short term contracts posties have been found jobs in nearby DO,s.

The local reps have played a blinder with this deal and I for one applaud them.

Apparently all less than 4hr 15 and they work 6days a week and then have a full week off, seems decent to me

How many weeks at 6 days a week before they get their week off? When did 36 hours a week become a full time contract?

well if they think 36 hours is enough to complete a park an loop job they will be in for a f***ing shock! if i wanted (which i dont) to complete my job everyday i would need 50+ hours a week! 36 might take you up to thursday!!

A office revision in our area went tits up in our area. The DSM has now apologised due to the errors in the planning. It was only highlighted because people where happy to work their time. All of our part timers in our office where made up to full time too and all FTC's where given full time contracts in nearby D.O's. This was because revision offices simply worked their time. Food for thought....

While this is a great local victory, upgrading the hours of 250 posties there is surely going to play havoc with depots like mine that are yet to have their revision, considering the planned 75/25 FT/PT split nationally?

It is happening postie,however it's bloody hard work! The branches that are succeeding are on call 24 hours a day. Thankfully your downloads section on policies such as stress and fatigue and the 1 minute test are a great help. I think it is down to a huge conducive effort by the membership. Communication was the key,big big factor!

Having an office with 100% full-timers brings with it some problems.
There is not enough indoor work to sustain this model so either the delivery span has to extend far beyond 4hrs or the level of absorption has to be kept artificially high.
It would be interesting to know whether this revision has involved walk sequenced mail and the IWT and what the reduction in headcount was.
It will also be interesting to know what all those full-timers will be doing on say.....a tuesday with little mail,a fully manned IPS and no part-time walks to prep.
Also...the FTC's that were moved to other D.O.s...how much say did they have?
If there is someone who is actually from this D.O. who could fill in the gaps i'd love to hear it...until then i'll reserve judgement.

OK lets look at at it mathematically(?) :

Saturday = 8 hours,(not 6),you absorb Mon - Fri,( If you dare,remember absorption is work to your time)
Indoor absorption, (looks like this is the way rather then outdoor as you cannot "outdoor" without your cars)
Tuesdays = All B.R. work,missorts.town corner.and ALL deads clear.
Walk sequencing is s**t,as admitted by senior management,(as in not very much time saved as your waves are stupidly late).
Oh yes! Everyone has their meal relief! The IWT tool should reflect this!

How long does a revision take,look at the problems we've been having and somehow the reps there have all come together and wallop it's done.The 2nd deal of the century?
How many offices in the Wolves area is there,are we talking one big one or loads of satellite ones.

Even if it's one office,and that must be a mother of an office,it don't sound right.
To be fair it's 'leaked' news so it could be anything.

BEFORE the revisions they took packet duties out. That was the big mistake. They "raped" the RCS,(Resource Control System") before the actual revisions. WRONG!
