does not matter what time you finish before your time they should have gave you more work but they cannot bank those hours for a later day in the week!

Thanks that's what I thought. Flexibility is half and hour which you get back the same week right? In our place they harp on on a Thurs or Fri if you're over your time about flexibility and earlier finishes on Tuesday...

On "light" days like this it is even more important than normal to do things by the book on delivery... No fence/garden cutting between neighbours, take your whole meal relief, push your HCT around your whole duty etc. If you are the duty holder, you could choose to take out some extra D2D drops to deliver, easing your workload a little for later in the week while making constructive use of time on a "light" day.

But as has already been said I think, flexibility is not compulsary, it is optional. Some depots work "shorts and longs" by local agreement with the union, working less contract hours on Mondays and Tuesdays, to give longer hours on the heavier days. If you are returning to the depot after delivery, it is up to the managers to find you work until your contract finish time. Each day's work is taken on its own merits, banking of hours is not agreed.

in our office if you finish early one day ,you may finish late the next, its swings and roundabouts .you dont get paid for going over your time here dont matter how heavy,so nothing is said if your back early,but i think its best to see how it works in your office,as it seems to differ also opinions on here. we have had duties in the past that never seem to go over and some that never finish early all supposedly tested and timed, make the most of the early finish they are gettin rare. its still job and finish i believe

you dont and when you complain to your manager or cwu rep they do nothing i covered one of these rounds once gladly only for a couple of weeks the cwu reps response was are you doing it properly what about your speed you going quick enough before going off and sitting with the managers for a cup of tea that is not what you want to hear from your union rep , these odd rounds i talk of are p/t rounds that couldnt be done ,and at resigns no one touches so the fngs end up with them , ,theres a lot of im alrite jack in our office ............................................come to that royal mail

Best bet cut off on one of them rounds instead of going over for free.

before p&l cutting off was a short cut to the job centre ,once the dust has settled and p&l is bedded in it will again dont forget that the main people this affects are the fngs ................................................................

What are fngs plus don,t reckon they can sack you for not working for free & if they did maybe for best no good not getting paid.

fngs = f*****g new guys as the new guy you have no solid ground to stand on , any company doesnt need an excuse to get rid of you in the 1st year of employment or trial period especially in the current climate , ive heard your lucky to have a job or there are plenty of people out there that are looking for a job daily over the last 12 months we had 6 new starters start a couple of weeks ago 2 have left and of the others of the ones i see are constantly over time and they either look desperate or fed up

Been there myself but now taking all me breaks and just work me hours otherwise your just in a temper all day.

ive learnt to shut off better , every now and again get very angry. both my p&l buddy and cover are corner cutters carry instead of trolley doorsteppin and so on both do stupid o/t amounts its all tits up
