Have royal mail stopped family friendly hours? we were told by our union rep that royal mail has stopped it and that the government will scrap the law in October too. He says anybody who has a problem with that will have to drop there hours or leave there job with royal mail .

Just went on that site and our rep has bummed us as he told us all to sign forms saying we accepted new start and Finnish times but due too so many people cutting off manager has moved start and Finnish times so that we now finish at 3.30pm instead of 2.30pm and most schools in my area Finnish at 3pm and the forms we were told to sign means we cant apply for ff hours now for 12 months !

i dont mind ff but why is it when you look on thee agg list all the people on ff are at the top and people who have not got kids suffer whats fair about that

What's the agg list? It annoys me when people think just because you have flexible working agreed you are getting preferential treatment. I, along with a fair few others in my office, work "family friendly" hours.
I start earlier and finish later with a couple of hours off to take my kid to school. I do my time on the sorting and always complete my duty (and lapsing). Yet still there are constantly people giving me grief or moaning
to my manager or the union rep thinking i've got some "special deal". Most of them have kids and are entitled to apply for it as well but don't need to or choose not to. The ones that moan the most are the ones that make
the most time every day. Far too many people in my office and i presume in others are too worried about what other people are doing, i used to be the same. Now, unless it effects my directly i.e. I have to spend longer on
sorting because
someone is throwing in their docket, i just get on with what i'm doing and let others get on with theirs. Unfortunately this job isn't fair and never will be (much like life). When you accept this, your working life becomes a lot less stressful.

we had family friendly problem in our office some time ago when the resign came round. so what we did was take a list of all the opg that would want it there was that many names on it they had to do away it in the end due to operational needs

I suppose its a case of the early bird gets the worm. If you apply for it and show it won't effect operational needs then it will be very hard for Royal Mail to refuse it. If it effects your ability to to do your duty then they have every right to refuse it.
