Claiming overtime...

Got another question. For the last 2 days I've done about 45 mins over my time. (i finish at 2pm), and I've not claimed it. due to many reasons but actually im quite peed off with working for nothing and thought to myself, tomorrow if im gonna run over im gonna call the DOM say an hour before and let them know im gonna be late and ask shall i stay on and do x amount of overtime or shall i cut off. i dont wanna seem like im being a pain but i think thats fair.

is this the right thing to do. i would of been on time had it not been for the damn summer duty!!!

ok, but for instance like today, i was on time but got delayed due to traffic and some yellow lines being painted on the road...those things move soooo slow and i couldnt turn around either so i was literally stuck with it. what then?
