According to my rep it went something like this.

Paul Kelly - we are in the s**t but the agreement says we must be nice to each other. We need to cut costs.
Dave Ward - we are in the s**t but the s**t round the corner is deeper and smellier. This is nice s**t we are in, comparatively.

It seems the issue of start times is still subject to a disagreement and thus the status quo remains.

i haven't heard anything about it, i'm not keen on taking RM bribes as we always end up regretting it a few months down the line

RM Scotland had put it to the Divisional reps that they would be willing to award £400, from the lump sum payments, in return for agreement on later start and finish times Mon - Sat. It was thought unlikely that RM at HQ level would agree to this but RM Scotland would pursue this.

In addition it was reported to me that CWU HQ were fully behind the terms of the Disagreement -that later start times as a consequence of receiving Sequenced mail would trigger the £600 and £200 lump sum awards.

It was my view that we should hold out for what BT2010 says, that is also the view of Unit Reps, although if put to members I think there would be a majority in favour of taking the cash.

Crunch time for RM will come in September when traffic volumes rise.

I bet they also tell people that if they don't agree to it, they will probably be given a later slot for the arrival of WSM as the earlier slots will be given to those that accept the deal first.
I can't think of one single good reason for accepting this offer.
I sat in a room with some senior RM managers not so long ago and they promised they were going to bring BT 2010 to life.
Instead they seem to have hidden it in some dark and dingy cell and brought out a completely different one.
It's a bit like The Man in the Iron Mask.

A meeting scheduled for Wednesday between Area Delivery Reps and Divi reps to discuss current situation where BT 2010 has effectively broken down in West of Scotland. Terms of Disagreement at respective HQ's and form part of National talks to ensure RM abide by BT2010. Can only guess how these are going.

Hopefully Area Safety Reps will be aware that we are also discussing the 'Tenement study' impact on Full time status in Units. Mysteriously RM are now referring to "19th Century" tenements! Perhaps someone has confused this with their love of "19th Century management practises".
