1st week The Pro's and cons of park and loop

love it or hate it, its been a week of firsts later starting and finishing, the trolley ,the packets, the buddy system working with another postie,loops, the service to the public. i thought lets get as many opinions from posties who have just completed the first week or so.

this new system will be the death of the royal mail if they dont f**k it off fast! even the managers know these trolleys slow us down so much that its impossible to complete our walks ontime! its people at the top(managers&union) who have never done the job who have come up with this rubbish way of working that is slower&costs more to run!

i hate the fact that we are giving a poorer service to joe public , and even more to do that i hate the fact that im having to kill myself doin it , my workload has increased greatly almost doubled and for less money about 3 hours taken from the duty [which never completed on the old time in the trials] now 27 was 30 hr . the only positive ive got from this week is the cwu are the waste of space i thought they were and am looking at a different union

just finished 4th week of p&l ,no trolleys in our do only 3 out of 33 walks use hcts as we are a high tenament area ,walks based on 3.5 hour deliveries ,but lots of part time duties in office.pros ,if loops are planned properly then ,depending on packets ,im carrying a bundle under arm no need for a bag ,longest loop 20 mins max,getting to know my postie driver who i have worked with for the last 12 years,but only ever said morning mate too,not having to carry packets that have been p739d round walk (as i used to finish on street and pouch off).d2ds easier as they are split between 2 over the 2 walks.cons office now split,dual prepers seem to be up before non ,less people taking a break ,6.30 start times and long and shorts,primary running longer as it has changed and less people at it,being harrassed if you threaten to stream or extend,all hct duties now either using a van or having bags dropped off as all hcts are knackered with faults ,mainly wheels falling off,firms that used get their mail at 9.30 now getting at 2.00pm(the offical leaflet ,changes to your delivery have been lying in office for 4weeks ,but because they are in boxes of 1000 the linos coudnt be arsed counting them out to walks ).having to re do my frame 3 times(as did most of the do as planners messed up walk logs ,and we werent given the 1to1 with them before changes ) seqenced mail seems to have decreased since revision.

you should not be using bags once your p&L revision is in,read the agreement

if i have 70 calls and no packets in my share of a loop then i dont need to use a bag.the bags gets used for most of the loops but sometimes it isnt needed

should add ,only 3 out of 33 walks were deemed suitable for hct,the rest are classfied as tennament deliveries ie 3 or over floors per stair .

am the same am a firms and collection duty we have the revision in and i deliver to 70 houses (wow) i dont use a trolley.sayin that only 3 lads in our place use the trolley out of 40 lads and 2 ladys.swear down our manager and rep no this and noone is arsed.gettin worse.

start time for us now is 9 a m when it was 7 finish time now supposed to be 3 p m, because we are the nearest office to the mail centre we get our mech last, week 2 about to start and still got 4 out of 5 door to doors from last week to do [not sorted till wed/thurs , this weeks not sorted yet, and upto an average of 9 bags and 7 for driver of mail and bag packets per day ,big packets varying and the workload of sign fors is up also , as for the pda its a lottery had 1 good one in 6 days, one packed up iin first 10 mins one had low battery for most of delivery and one kept re settin itself ....................still mail is gettin less , there are rounds that are trolley [big] rounds mainly mail no packets ,these are deliveries within one mile of office sounds good but they are also have to cover any duty the managers want them on when there are absenses,

I dont know if this is a pro or a con , but because of the late finishing times went sat night to do shop at asda ,i kept bumping in to posties , we managed to see the funny side of it eventually.
