New Walk and Working till your Time?

Who decides how much mail to take out so that it keeps you out till your finishing time? I had this situation today and i didnt have a clue how long each section would take and i was not familiar with the area at all - yes i ended up getting lost once out which set me back :oops:

I left some in the frame and i had to bring a bag back to which i informed the line manager i couldn't complete on return.

I refuse to do overtime due to not needing to and having a life after work :dance

We are always told to inform them after we've prepped the delivery but sometimes it's a joke due heavy mail/new to walk.

We have been told we have to take all the mail out every day and bring back what's left at cut off time....

Except Saturday, when if you don't think you will complete you leave it in the office for someone to do on o/t! :nana

Seems fair enough and logical that.

Going to be fun and games tomorrow when they shove me on another walk i haven't done before and my finishing time is earlier :Very Happy

So you're going to cut off,you know it and the screws know it.But not to worry,bag it all up and take it out then I can tick the 'office cleared' box. :cuppa

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Just make sure that you tell your Lino as soon as you can if you don't think you can complete your walk.

I always say something like "I believe that there is a distinct possibility that I will be unable to complete my walk within my hours today, just letting you know so you can make alternative arrangements should I be forced to bring anything back"

Try and do it in front of a witness too if possible. Depending on your lino you will either get a big sigh or an earful but at least you will have covered your assss! :angel

Cheers for the replies.

I was put on another walk i'd never done before again today surprise surprise so after prepping it i had a word again with the lino who was 2 hours late in tut tut :Very Happy and said i believe i won't be able to complete to which he mumbled yeah leave that in there and jotted down 1.5 hrs on his pad :chuckle

Happy days was done in good time :Very Happy
