Geo-route
Just a thought/question for any union reps who have dealt with Geo-route,
Not in our D.O. but apparently imminent,it seems there's no nationally agreed call-rate, so reps seem to be trying
to settle around the 80% mark.
however my point is this,if the D2D's do increase to 5 as seems likely, that's 1 per day, which to my mind will be
a 100% call rate.
surely we could use this to our advantage, after all if you can't beat the system, why not play it!
any tips on how it's affected your D.O. would be much appreciated.

robd, Where does the info that 5 D2Ds seems likely come from?
I am not happy to hear that D2Ds are going to increase and that later starts are a done deal. This and the below inflation pay rise are the primary reason I voted for and supported the strike. I will be one p*ssed of postie if this is true.
The race to the bottom will truly be on if we agree to do more D2Ds and not do battle with the Gov and PostCon regarding the uneven playing field that we are obliged to compete on at a huge disadvantage to ourselves.
I think I will be seeking alternative employment if this happens. But being a miserable old git the chances of changing jobs this late in my life are going to me minimal.

Don't worry Dogfood if they increase the D2Ds to more than 3 I certainly won't be able to complete as I struggle at the moment.dogfood wrote:robd, Where does the info that 5 D2Ds seems likely come from?

You can only work to time,if they want to bombard us with more than 8 hours work a day we will just have to slow down and work to time and they will be the losers then as our productivity will go through the floor.
It looks like they want team leaders in who will be willing to work till 5pm for no extra pay and say yes guv every time but I say f**k em I'll never say yes.

The idea of 5 for 3 has gone away but the idea of increasing D2D hasn't - it is a fundamental plank of increasing revenue both CWU and RM are in favour - just not in favour of something for nothingTrueBlueTerrier wrote:Yeah I though do 5 and get paid for 3 had been postponed has it reared its ugly head again.
I'm sure I read somewhere that there had been a suggestion of shrink wrapping several D2Ds together and counting them as 1 item - I don't know how this would sit with the customer but if the price is right............

Re: Geo-route
Been told not to entertain geo route or pegasus until we get an agreement through HQ. The call rate could change 80% is s***e 4mph is s***e too. So best hold out for agreement!!robd wrote:Just a thought/question for any union reps who have dealt with Geo-route,

SORRY MATE KNOWING HOW THEY WORK THEY WILL EXCPECT YOU TO DO IT FOR THE LITTLEST THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH.
10 ITEMS SHRINKED WRAPPED----YOU GET 2.67P---PROBABLY
IT IS TOO MUCH REVENUE FOR RM TO IGNORE SO THEY WILL BEND OVER BACKWARDS TO GET US TO DO MORE FOR F**K ALL IN RETURN.
AS WITH ALL THEY DO

There is NO National Agreement on Geo-route,but like that matters to RM anyway.
So technically, you should refuse to work with it,but this needs to be double checked.
The last news i got from the Union the above was right.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

sorry to open a can of worms,i have no knowledge that the D2Ds will Definitely increase!
I am more concerned with Geo-route and was merely exploring a loop-hole,however as the matter was raised,
my own opinion is the D2Ds have merely been put on the backburner and as there's profit in it(not neccessarily for us!)
an increase to 1 a day is not beyond the bounds of possibility.
Personally i'm finding less and less time to prep them, and as the old saying goes expect the best but prepare for the
worse.
so the point i tried to make was actually based on call rates,if the boss accepts i'm taking 1 per day to every house,
surely he must agree that's 100%,but if say one week we only get 3 D2Ds guess what, the call rates suddenly in my
favour.
my understanding is many offices have gone in with very little room for error, and are going over 3 1/2 hours already,
so if the D2Ds do increase, what then.

were on a stage 3 battle with the geo routing in south wales i wont say which office but we have 30 ish walks and 35 ish rurals they have proposals for the walks but not the rurals so we have told them to fu ck off till we have a national agreement
last week dom had new wings fitted to all the frames ready for the geo so its obviously coming but if it comes without agreement i see a mass walk out !!!
the last we heard we was waiting for the national things to be sorted cause we were led to believe its all part of the new pay deal in discussions now so were waiting to see whats gonna happen

our dom reckons that cause we get paid extra for them we have to prep them in our own time
