Shortage Of Boxes

Anywhere else got a shortage of boxes? Down here flats and letters and probably the mech at times are using card board boxes a lot. Have some offices started hoarding equipment a lot earlier then usual? I expect that we'll start to find the number of sleeves in the system will drop soon as they get hoarded.

A lot of the posties in our place on the P&L are using perstops to store their loops in the van instead of those crappy, flimsy nylon bags. That might be a contributor.

Staples are going out of business with their stock piles of storage boxes because everyone keeps stealing RM trays. They're handy.

It doesn't help that the boxes don't get returned back to the MC and I know it's not the fault of the DOs as I asked someone from the DO who does ot at the MC and they said that they have got yorks of empty boxes at the DO, they jsut never seem to make it into the vans back to the MC

The buddy walk system is a very inefficient use of boxes.
Most of the boxes contain at most 20-30 flats...some as little as 5 or 6.
Walk Sequencing also produces half-empty boxes.
Less full boxes equals a greater need for boxes.
...but then volumes are decreasing.

Perstops for storing the Xmas decorations. Packet bags for more storage and making leaf mulch in the garden!.

I'd imagine that's one way they could be useful.

The drivers should be taking empty yorks with perstops on them back to the MC when they drop off the full ones.

But with the falling mail volumes I don't understand why you could ever be short again

Ive got several in my garage from when I had my own business a few years back, the postie would dump my mail in the box and said just keep hold of it I'll collect it next time! He never did.
They are handy for tools, light bulbs etc

Maybe I should bring em back now I'm an employee, I might get done for stealing!

The drivers in the night/morning don't want to take them back because they want to go back empty so they can park up straight away and go home. The afternoon drivers don't have the space because the MC have us segregating the collections into so many different yorks that lorries are all full even if there is bugger all mail.
