Packets

Ok I'm new so be gentle, Wednesday and today were my first 2 days out alone after 3 days of buddying up.
I was shown to flip a letter over and write a "P" or something on it to remind me that address has a packet, but both days I somehow missed noticing it?! Which resulted in backtracking to redeliver, real pisser.

I had a thought, if I stick a docket in front of the letters there's little chance of missing it and also ill have a docket ready in my hand for filling out when as seems usual the homeowner is out :-(

Anyone else do this or what system do you use and do you still miss packets out?

Hi im 9 or so weeks in, so a newbie too.

When i was training my trainer did most of the bagging up and wrote P on the envelopes.
When i was delivering I kept missing the p - same as you. some got back tracked and some didn't
When i started bagging up myself and writting my own P's (with very big writing) and handling the packets myself at the fitting, it made it easier to get the delivery right.

As for notices - I only write them out in advance if there is no other mail for that address. Otherwise it takes up too much time.

Just keep going at it - it will get easier to remember.

I usually turn around the first letter for the house and write the number of the house where the packet is for on it. If theres no letters for the house, then the house before. Hard to miss a turned round letter!

Have seen people write 739 cards out for every parcel they have before leaving office.
Me, turning 1st letter of address with packet round suffices.
If no letter for that address house before or after

I'm now at the stage that I just remember what packets.....................shame I still forget a lot of the time (the embarrassing walk back to the house ).

Haha, worst is when theres 2 for the same house, and you forget (usually happens when theyre two small ones that get stuck at the bottom of the bag) and then you have to go back 20 minutes later with another packet for them...

I write a "p" by the address so cant miss it, if they have 2 i write px2 easy!

Turn around a letter to the house that the packets going to, and write a P on the letter and PR for recorded. It works for me.
Also if I wrote out all my 739's before I started delivering It would add an hour on my time, as I have loads of packets every day !

Ditto - and if it need signing then its PS

Mind you be careful if you right the number on the next letter ie (P52 on 54s mail) , just after I started I was covering a round with a long street on it. No 155 had a packet but no mail. SO of course I turned 157s and wrote as large as I could P155 - Got dragged into managers office and asked why I had insulted a customer - they thought I had written PISS.

Obviously I meant a blank docket not actually fill it out until needed!
