First aid course.

Got dates through for my first aid course (3 days). but it's at Manchester mail centre which us over 50 miles!! My question is do royal mail pay mileage or for train tickets etc?

There was a recent LTB out with stuff about paid days off for certain union courses,not sure if there was any travelling allowances in it.
I can't find the LTB and have no idea what it's heading was to search for it.
No doubt one of the guys will rem it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

If it is an official course for Royal Mail and you will become a recognised First Aider then yes they should reimburse your travel expenses. Your instructions for the course should explain this, or there should be a contact number - I would give them a ring and find out what you can and can't claim for.

In a professional organisation you should get Joining Instructions and that would detail everything ---- oh wait I see the flaw.

You do get mileage paid if you use your car, just keep a record of how many miles from your house to the MC and then get your DOM to fill in the claim form.

Postal First Aid Services (PoFAS) still do the first aid courses...i think.
I know RM wanted to outsource it but i don't think they got away with it.
