quiting as rep

Thinking of quiting as rep due the members i have to represent, alot of them are not worth my time. memebers in the office doing everthing backwards regarding delivery methods and the revision which has been implementated. Seem as if i'm wasting my time. should i quit and just laugh when what i've been telling them becomes reality. idiots who can't see past there nose and who are killing the job e.g not using trolleys, not having breaks, going over there time, killing the job for others. totally pissed off and ready to jack it in!!! how do other reps feel?? support from higher union officials on full time release is s**t, shame on them. in a dark place at the moment, heeeeeeeeeeelp!!

We have all been there. I'm sure for some quitting has now become a permanent idea.
Try to remember why you wanted the job in the first place.
Try to focus on any positive results you have had.
Will the office be a better or worse place without you as rep?

The members are a bit like children.
We won't agree with everything they do. We won't agree with all their decisions. Sometimes we might not even like them.
But we would still die for them.

fishtank are you in dream land, open your eyes and look whats happening every day
at offices. there are a lot of reps all over this country who day in and day out are banging
their heads against a brick wall.
some reps are like shadows of management, signing up to revisions and telling staff its the best he can do.
or thank god for the decent reps who still fight any cause and protect their office staff which is still the majority.
but as for saying to a rep are you a quitter or not, is bang out of order.
this rep sounds like he needs help before he gets depressed anymore.

yes she should quit. if the staff are not intrested and she gets no backing from union headquaters let the office
go up the wall.if more reps packed up our union would have to step in or they would lose there own jobs.
our union needs to stop this silent treatment to its members and get involved again at all levels.

No don't quit.
I have been at that place many times especially after overhearing the same person slagging off the union who only two weeks earlier was at a stage three with me trying to save their job.
I just carry on and do the best I can and that now seems to have spilled over to financial,marital,alcohol and drug advisor.
I don't mind as I like to help .

The lowest moment for me and the closest I came to resigning was when me me and the missus did that 100 mile walk.
We left a collection pot out and a poster of us and details of the walk ,this is in an office of 40 odd and we all know each other well.
If they all had put a quid in we would had got at least £40 , the pot was there for at least 6 weeks .
What was in the pot?

The fact remains that whatamess!! is a good rep and her resignation would be a loss to the membership...a membership i am part of.
There will be members in her D.O. who will be worse off for her leaving whether they realise it now or come to realise it in the future.
HQ will not give a s**t whether she leaves or not...but i will.

Totally agree, I am no longer in the Union (long story), but I still give respect to the local rep which he deserves, if a rep doesn't perform well for the members it tends not to be their fault, they are the last in the food chain and training and information is p*ss poor at the moment.
I think some just take them for granted and only when they get in trouble do they bleat to a rep.

Quit,but be prepared for 2 things,1 you can't help getting involved when the screws try it on and 2,members bending your ear and begging for help when they are shat on.
