Vote of no confidence in our manager

Post by rolf »

Does anybody have any history or experience of this, we are constantly put under pressure to lapse, and complete in time, therefor we are intending going down this route of getting a petition of everyone in office and signing it and sending it to one directors. What to do you think, is the ay forward, we are at breaking point. :arrrghhh

Did happen in our office, but nothing came of it. In fact things possibly got worse as the DOM's supperiors seem to have took it as a feather in the DOM's cap as he was obviously ruffling the feathers of his staff, which seems to be what they are after nowadays. :no no :no no .......

he sounds like the perfect manager from royal mails point of view...please dont expect any support from his superiors because as far as they are concerned he is performing well...we had a manager just like him for nearly 3 years who was clearly a loose cannon but in the end he was simply moved on to another unfortunate office...your office needs to stand firm do the job properly etc etc..( easier said than done i know) lots of complaints from the public would probably help too.

Try it rolf,you never know.
But stick to facts, don't make it look bitchy.
Think hard what you want to put in it,then check and double check it.
Good luck if you go ahead.

Exrep wrote:Ask your area rep to get a JPS in motion he will know what you mean ive forgotten what JPS stands for and have only been involved in one.

The DOM concerned was never allowed to step foot in our office again once it was all over.

Do not put in a mass grievance do it the JPS way the outcome is more severe for your DOM than a grievance.

If you think a mass grievance is the way to go dont waste your time and effort nothink will come of it.

Do it the rite way the JPS way.

It is only your area rep that can get the ball rolling on this so get in touch with your branch asap.

Exrep wrote:It has to go beyond a grievance it has to be a JPS.

Reasons: A grievance is allways investigated by a dom from a neighbouring office who may have a clash of interests and may clear this dom of B/H.
If past up to the next stage its dealt with by a cluster DOM who in turn may have clash of interests and also clear the dom of any B/H do you honestly beleive the cluster dom or office dom dealing with the case would point the finger at the dom and blame them 100% not a chance been there and seen, heard it all before.

A JPS is slightly different as outside forces come especially if there are high numbers of people that have been affected by a dom and his actions.
These people have no vetted interests they only want the truth and do not look at either side favourably.
Each employee in your unit will be interviewed in private all evidence will then be looked at and a conclusion drew on that evidence.

This now is the only course of action left for offices to go down as grievances are now waste paper,if they are addressed its all brushed under the carpet.
I have sat in on a few grievances and the whole system is laughable as no one is ever brought to book with regards to what ever issue the grievance is about.

JPS you have to get in touch with your area rep to get the ball rolling

londons DOs have the same managers as everywhere else we are all in the same boat the only
thing different is that managers have lost confidence in higher management.
managers in london are depressed, deaf, dumb, resign, lost intrest,or just sick of the job and cannot wait for there EVRs.
as for the offices the staff run them with the backing of the reps.

Instead of focusing on what a crap manager you have focus on the cost impacts to RM of the crap manager i.e. higher sickness, more customer complaints and compensation payments, low moral and RM's reputation etc. In my view you'll get a lot more traction doing that than the usual "it's the crap manager".

At the end of the day MONEY TALKS!

Why don't all your delivery stay just say NO. And work as a unit and grow some balls or breasts. Petition is pointless. If your in a unit of 50 and all 50 say no. Let him come back to you. Simple

Great thought but the reality is 50%+ of most offices are made up of either gaffers Toadies :angel , people who are bullied by management re. not to book docket etc who are in fear of thier job (i.e older posties who are a little slower) and some who just genuinely don't like to rock the boat.
How can you expect people to support what you are saying when they work for nowt when they come in early or loose money and threaten thier own job by using thier own transport :d'oh! :no no :no no
When we signed a petition ( based on genuine concerns) some of the toadies, when they could see it had fallen on deaf ears went running in to his office and said sorry they didn't make it clear what I was signing gaffer sir else i wouldn't have signed it :confused :confused ......

easier said than done cheetah, we now have to out of straight after 9oclock missorts to do lapsing, only some of have the balls to say no, we will never get 100% of office saying no, only get 30-40% saying no, others just forecast which they are more than happy allowing but if you do 30 mins O/T you claim 30 mins O/T not 50 mins to 1 hour. Think it may be time to get out after 15 years.
