post person interview

Hi guys, i have an interview coming up for a post person position. i have had an interview before and got put on a waiting list.

I was wondering if the process has changed since early 2010? and if you guys can give me any hints/tips?

Well I started last week and am loving it!

I worked in a supermarket for 17 years as a baker and finally leaving was the best thing I ever did. Anyone suggesting you get s job at Tesco or mcdonalds obviously have never worked in that environment, I have and it sucks. Also I was paid less as a skilled baker which requires a lot of training than I am now as a postie which takes 3 days training! Go figure!

Good luck with the interview, just be enthusiastic and say you live the outdoors, meeting people and walking!

Well I am still a baby (done less than 10 years ) and compared to my last job as a phone drone its light years better. RM has one major flaw, its management style, and if that ever changes then I honestly believe it could go from strength to strength.

Whilst it is a very physical job the stress levels are low, the pressure levels are extreme in some cases but that's down to management nothing else, its still a well respected position in the community and once your out of the office the job is what you make of it.

I don't or should I say didn't do cakes other than bake Danish pastries and fry donuts!
I spent most of the time between making bread, rolls and cleaning, lots of cleaning! I fudging hated cleaning and thank the lord I no longer have to, not at work anyway!

Funny how habits die though, every morning after my sorting I look around and see rubber bands and stuff everywhere, half tempted to go and find a broom, nobody else seems to bother so I haven't either!

We have cleaners and you definitely do not want to step on their toes.
I try to make as much mess as possible...i'm doing my bit for their job security.

Since when has Tesco's employed SKILLED bakers? Sorry but like all the Supermarkets the breads etc is utter shite.

i worked for Safeway then Morrissons
regardless, all of the supermarkets send all trainees to college these days on day release for a year, you end up with a NVQ3 or something like that.

im old school and learnt from my colleagues when i was 19 (18 years ago)
and yes it is a skilled job still, all bread and rolls are made from scratch, machinery is used to speed up the process, but all staff should be able to make all dough products from scratch including hand Moulding before they are made up to a skilled bakers wage.
Morrissons had 3 levels, trainee baker, Baker and skilled baker. It takes a few years to attain skilled baker status

well as i have worked at a well known pizza restaurant for the past 6 years, i think working as a postie would be a massive step up!

so i had my interview yesterday, it went well. Now i just play the waiting game.

The interview consisted of Five major questions:
Tell me about when you've had to work in a team.
Tell me about when you've had to work alone.
Tell me about a time you've had to work to deadlines.
Tell me about a time you've had to deal with a problem.

can't remember the other one

and there are a set or other questions that are more one word answers. Pretty strait forward really.

I hope this helps anybody else coming to the site looking for a little bit of help before an interview.
