Can't always blame the customer. It's biggest use is the insurance on high value items and sometimes it's at the sellers discrection how they send items. RM should drop the 1pm lark though and just make it next day I agree.

Yes but with the added benefit of insurance. Tracked plus or something. Just next day. Not sure what the insurance is for standard tracked without signatures, can't be much.

Keep the 9am specials though, they are always good for a chuckle.

What is worse is that they did exactly the same before.

P&M07 agreement brought in later starts 6am from 5 am - so we were out an hour later and finished an hour later obviously. Before P&M the Specials had a time of 12:00 - guess what they didn't change it for about 2 years IIRC.

RM are experts at getting things wrong, they try to make the same mistake as many times as possible.

The 1pm spec remains to keep RM competitive with its rivals (apparently)
What is stupid is still giving Special Deliveries to walking postmen who are not properly capable of fulfilling the spec due to time constraints or properly equipped to transmit that information immediately as they have no PDAs.

What time are the Specials ready for despatch?
How long would it take the drivers to complete them?
The problem is a cost/Q of S balance. As ever with RM the former takes precedence.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I wouldn't be surprised to see SDs got rid of and replaced my different compensation brackets for Tracked (with the signature being mandatory).

Why do some "tracked" parcels require a signature? Surely that's just recorded but under a different name?

No - Tracked are erm, tracked, from despatch to delivery. The idea being that a customer can "track" the item and know whereabouts in the system it is. There's also the option of obtaining a signature from the recipient upon delivery.

Recordeds aren't tracked in any way and the only difference between it and normal mail is a recorded proof of delivery (customers signature).
