WE take out the charged item with us.
Collect the money in exchange for the item if they're in and if not grey slip goes through.
Were the only office I know of that does this... Anyone else have to collect money on delivery?

Not my office, even businesses get the grey card although i don't think thats right.

Nope not a wind up.
Its been in force ever since I started and everyone has to do it. 'It takes pressure off of the PHG's'.
I don't carry change so if they dont havethe correct money they just get the grey slip

Delivery staff do not handle nor carry cash on the street
they do not demand monies from customers on the street
I have access to both charge labels and cards. I also do deliveries
do you see where the scope for a scam is?
or the fact people assume its okay to pay £X because the postie asks for it?

I've been a postie for almost 23 years in West Wales and have always taken surcharge items out.
Only in the last few years have we stopped taking out customs charge items.
I hate knocking on doors asking for money especially when its a birthday card or even worse a bereavement card.

For your average junkie no-mark knowing a postman is carrying cash is completely different to knowing a postman may or may not be carrying a Special Delivery which may or may not be of financial value.
