the cwu people say our DO is closing and merging with one at least 6 miles away but management havent said anything has this happened to you in your DO ?

Don't listen to rumours....it will do your head in.
If the "cwu people" knew anything about it then it would have to come from the "Royal Mail people".
If that was the case you would have heard officially by now.

If I got a pound for everytime we were told our office would be merging with the neigbouring office I'd be able to buy a pint!

It happened to our old office knocking on for 20 years ago the difference in mileage was about 6.5 miles.
There was a lot of press coverage, letters to the chairman, strike action and even a public meeting attended by the then area manager and the local MP.

It still happened and we recieved a nice little payout for moving.

Our delivery office was closed 2 years ago. That was a rumour that proved to be correct!

I suspect your D.O is in the close/merger criteria category, so it may well be looked at, at some point.

RM has already planned for this by building a warehouse in Milton Keynes. It has two RM2000 frames each with 100 bases and 200 wings for which IWT and Georoute have calculated a full-time P&L pairing. There is a smaller frame for the Scotland walk which will be covered by a 25 hour part-timer with an HCT.

Our office has just closed and joined with an office 9 miles away alot of workers have been there for 20-30 years and arent happy about the change but they should be happy as they are also making the trainee manages step down to be postmen again so that means im on my way out as i am the last one in (only 10 months) thats life

Well it is the logical progression of park and loop. If you go out in a van then at a rough guess RM could shed 4 out of 5 delivery offices. Big savings
