knee ligament tear/sick advise

Hi guys been on the sick for 3 days with knee ligament tear will be going back work next week.I have no stages,but iam on a waiting list for key hole surgery on my knee,if they issue a stage 1 for the 3 days ive had off this week will they issue a stage 2 for when i have the op?The knee tear is due to time served,24 years walking and bikeing.

I would think not, i was off earlier this year with a foot problem, went back to work for a couple of months and got my 1st stage then but they knew i would be going in for corrective surgery, which I've now had and will be off at least a couple of months, I don't expect to be issued with the 2nd stage as it is part of the ongoing 1st stage.

make sure they agree to no stage if your off again with your injury in your back to work interwiew i did

You won't get issued a stage for only 3 days but your op will trigger a stage if you are off for a few weeks.

Unless of course the 3 days is following other absences

i 2 had knees dun but did not get a warning, but that was a few years ago. trouble is that they looking for any excuse to get rid of you so yep you probley will get the 2nd warning

Have just dealt with one of the lads at work who did the same,you should not get issued for 3 days anyway unless you have previous absences from work,your union rep would be the person to put forward that you are waiting for surgery and should push to keep you on duties within the office,any sick issue should be deferred as you are going to have corrective surgery and you will collect sick, any manager with common sense will see that your absence is due to ware and tear of the job so should be willing to help you,make sure you have ATOS appointment made so that they are involved with advising your managers,last but not least hope your knee is dealt with soon and that you get onto the road of recovery fast but don't take any cr*p from them!

Good job we can write without using paper because i don't believe there would be enough paper in the world to write down how many of us posties have skeletal injury's because of the job
