would you strike again ..after being shafted twice by the union .recall yourself standing on that picket line. last year .did it actually cross your mind then that you were striking for even worse conditions and less pay .no of course not .so how did royal mail slip it all under the radar .without anyone noticing ?..

These were the general reasons given for striking in 2009...


1. A solution to the Pension crisis.

2. A pay rise to stop the rot towards accepting pay freezes whenever RM demand it.

3. Working together with Royal Mail to make change jointly and preserve job security.

4. A Shorter Working Week – with change and automation comes opportunity to maintain jobs , have a better work/life balance and a more manageable workload.

5. Proper agreement on flexibility and work rates to prevent abuses and bullying.

6. A fresh approach to industrial relations. Royal Mail seem to revel in confrontation both with the Union and with individual members of staff. Royal Mail need to recognise the right of your Union to negotiate terms and conditions for you.


I'll leave it up to members to decide whether those rather vague points have been resolved,addressed or even worsened in the last two years.

I wouldn't strike again. Complete waste of time. Above is a list of reason (post2/3) why we striked. Have they really been sorted or just brushed aside. Plus i don't have any confidence in Hayes/Ward and the rest at the top. They are completely out of touch to ordinary posties.
And who really wants to work Saturdays to 3pm.
No to me. But hopefully i'll leave soon so really i couldn't care either way. And if strike action was voted for i'd would probably strike. I'd vote no in a ballot.

We have little chance of gaining anything concrete from another strike. We have no chance at all of gaining anything if we do not have the deterrant of a strike. So yes, I will gladly be on the picket line tomorrow if there was a majority vote.

Next 10 years .... there will be no strike ( locally here and there ...odd day out ... yes ) but not nationally.

I have no faith in CWU nationally seems every deal is worse than last
