being a silly sausage
had a postie at our place noticed his van was low on fuel, unfortunately he was out on delivery and there was a chance the van would run out of fuel before the job got done. Not to worry he put a tenners worth in out of his own pocket expecting that he would be reimbursed.not so, he should have checked the level before setting out, thanks for the fuel and in future do your job properly or else says the dim.
anyway he got his tenner back, "i don't normally bother booking extended says he but i went over an hour and half last week and i booked it so i got my tenner back!!!!!!! and that ladies and gentlemen is why we are all doomed

He should have just siphoned a tenners worth back out.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Sorry you lost me heretiggle wrote:and that ladies and gentlemen is why we are all doomed
Why are we doomed because a postie booked OT for extending ?
As for the fuel, well it should have been checked before going out and i assume the light was already on. I got caught out once when i was busy and the light came on whilst on my delivery but had plenty left to get back to the office and then fill it up.
I think if it was me i would have swore then shoved in a fiver but not risked reporting it but quitely claimed the money back when i could. Why risk a warning buy reporting it.

depends how close you are to an MC/DO with fuel facilities
we dont have fuel cards as the MC is nearby
As said ,the whole issue of being low on fuel should have been addressed doing the vehicle checks

Van check.
Previous driver has left it near empty.
No diesel in the Delivery Office tank because Royal Mail hasn't budgeted for fuel properly.
You couldn't make it up.

Re: being a silly sausage
Several points:
1. Haven't got any Fuel Cards because the Mangers are using them to Fuel their own cars up! (Only Joking
)
2. Why doesn't RM tell everyone to Fuel their Vehicles up before a Fuel Rise (Like the Budget) just like we car drivers do? It would save them/us a fortune!
3. Some Offices I worked in used to fill up at Tescos and got Club Card points every week! Result
4. We are instructed to fill up our vans if the level falls below 3/4. How could a van get that low. I would personally collar the previous driver and ask why it was not filled up. Sorry that needs "People Skills" by a Manager!
5. On the rare occasion that I've had to leave a van low on Fuel (used another van for SA when it was low and didn't have time to fill it) I used to stick a note to the steering wheel saying, "Caution Low on Fuel".
