Do we get a day off (unpaid) when moving house?

I've asked to have the week off in the middle of september as am moving,even though they owe me a week because of staff shortages I cant get it.I thought I read on here your intitled to a day off unpaid when moving home and have trauled the site to no avail.Was I imagining it?

MOVING HOUSE    Should be taken as Annual Leave or Unpaid Leave. See Relocation Policy if compulsory transfer terms apply to move.

It is the Special Leave policy doc available in Downloads.

My manager told me I couldn't.

I told him I'd be off that day whatever, I wasn't going to let my wife and 2 year old son try to move house without me.

In the end he gave me a day's annual leave.

Many moons ago i rem we got a day off for moving,deffo finished now though.

The fact a manager cant wangle at least a few days for this is low.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Anyone with common sense would swap their day off. Like a friday then you have most of the weekend to catch up...

Thankyou all for your replies. It gets my goat that the new deal was supposed to give more options for time off during the summer months, but because they've cut us to the bone that just has'nt happened.To be fair to the guy that sorts the holidays, he said we'll sort something out,it just would have been nice to have the whole week they owe me.
