Is next years 3.5% pay rise part of RM new business plan
Is HQ talking about next years pay rise with RM during current talks.
Is it going to be meekly surrendered as like colleague shares & transformation payments.
Is it worth insisting on & making stand on or not for HQ AND MEMBERS.

I'm worried about this too, with Royal Mail pleading poverty at every available opportunity,I would think that there is a very good chance of us losing this pay increase which is still below the current rate of inflation but as the advert says "every little bit helps"gb93 wrote:Is HQ talking about next years pay rise with RM during current talks.

The only thing we should meekly accept is the removal of line managers from every unit.
After all the BT2010 blabbed on ad nauseum about the new relationship. So a good manager should be able to run a unit with the support of the staff.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Is next years 3.5% pay rise part of RM new business plan
Yes it is , however what is not account for are the following : no repayment to the pension deficit after next march and no repayment of the commercial loan to the Govenment . Unless the EU grant European State Aid the government cannot take on the pension deficit and Royal Mail cannot fund the deficit past March 2011. The new business plan starts with a zero balance sheet which is why the colleague share con took place, Royal Mail cannot ask the government to write off the commercial loan on the basis the government is a basket case and then still pay out millions in colleague share payments which valued Royal Mail at a price which would have not helped Royal Mail's plans.
The Pay Rise I think will take place the more worrying thing is if the EU do not grant European state aid and allow the government to take on the pension deficit then we are all in a lot worse trouble than we have ever been. The trustees will step in and we may well end up with European Union rescue aid which allows them to break up the company , sell off parts of it and close the pension scheme.
We are all in untravelled waters !

Not a reply that instills much confidence in me of us gettin it.
Nor does it appear to be a "line in the sand" either.
Not a go at you Dingo, appreciate your Frank response.

Re: Is next years 3.5% pay rise part of RM new business plan
the usual tactic with 3 year deals is to make the first 2 yearly rises smallish and put a bigger one on for the final year (all i see is carrots).
neotiate a new deal before reaching the final payrise that cancels it out.
we have had this before im sure.

The government are the cause of the pension deficit in the first place so how on earth can the EU stop them.

The 3.5% pay rise was not conditional on any of those things happening or not.dingo wrote:Yes it is , however what is not account for are the following : no repayment to the pension deficit after next march and no repayment of the commercial loan to the Govenment .
It was and still is,as far as i'm aware...part of the BT2010 agreement.
Where and when did the union receive a mandate from members to renegotiate it under a different business plan?
How many of the "good" parts of BT2010 are left?
It wasn't exactly a "deal of the century" to start with...now it looks like utter capitulation.
It's pathetic.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: Is next years 3.5% pay rise part of RM new business plan
now heres an interesting point to throw into the hat, taken directly from the agreement
or are they just going to turn round and say we were only getting 3.5%?
i wonder...
so given that we were due to recieve an increase of between 0.5% to 1.5% above RPI and RPI is currently sitting at 5.0% coupled with the fact the bank of england doesnt expect inflation to return to 2% for about 2 years would it be safe to assume that the union are pushing for a pay rise of between 5.5% and 6.5%?Approach to third year basic pay review
Both parties are approaching the future with a positive expectation that deployment of this agreement will ensure that transformation is delivered, leading to an improvement in company performance and a successful and sustainable future for the organisation.
Given this, there will be an increase in pensionable pay, overtime and allowances of 3.5%. This will be revisited if the average RPI for January to March 2012 is outside the expected range of 2%-3%.
or are they just going to turn round and say we were only getting 3.5%?
i wonder...

Fish tank the union thinks the 3.5% is a given and will be paid , as it's the BT 2010 agreement is still in place.
What I pointed out was the new business plan has this cost in it but it does not have any further payment past March for the repayment of the pension deficit and the loan from the government.
The European Union has to agree to the government taking over the pension deficit which is far from straight forward especially as we know how well the Tories like euorpe.

Dingo will the union be pushing for an increase on the 3.5% due to the higher than expected rate of RPI?

BT2010 ALSO says the 3.5% can be re opened in response to unforeseen events which have a significant impact on the business and its employees.

Re: Is next years 3.5% pay rise part of RM new business plan
It's not my call , but if it was I would try and get some more money into basic pay from the joint statement discussions and a further two or three year deal especially in light of the current public sector pay freeze and the fact we are uncertain about who will own us in the future.
In addition I would attempt to divert any money still in colleague share into basic pay.

To soon, BT210 states January to March 2012 for RPI. Until March has ended the CWU and RML cant revisit.

yeah thats what i said above, its expected to be above that figure just wondering if the union were getting prepared to ask for more or not
