union dues

Post by jmlr1971 »

just a wee question thats kinda bugging me.

why is it I pay £2.70 per week ( £140.40p per year ) for union membership but on the cwu website they are trying to get BUSINESS POST w88kers to join our? union for £5.99 per month ( £71.88p per year ) NEARLY HALF THE PRICE ! ! ! ! !

ANY THOTS WOULD BE WELCOME COZ I THINK IM MISSING SOMETHING

Just a guess , they get paid less than us. If they do join hopefully they will eventually get parity in pay and then pay the same dues.

Its nothing to do with pay.

It is because the CWU don't have any recognition rights in business post. This means basically that for the £5.99 you get legal cover and individual representation.

They don't get the CWU involved in any pay talks or negotiations on terms and conditions.

The ambition of the CWU is to get as many members as possible and then force business post to make recognition agreement
