Since our revision 4 months ago there are still 10 duties out of 27 that are cutting off most days and some of the others regularly go over most days.
The management now have changed tactics and seem to badger the teams that cut off but leave the teams that go over.
This is partly due to the overtime boys who used to do the odd bag here and there now having to do 3 bags for a cut off and some aren't doing it anymore due to their rounds being too long or others who are now too knackered doing it every week for the past 16 weeks.
The managers are saying we are not throwing off fast enough , not leaving early enough, too much talking and resort to standing there watching you work.
Another tactic they use is that I have fridays off and the person that does my round that day is a runner,you know the type , no trolley, doesnt have meal relief, comes in 30 minutes early,throws off households in the frame the day before, cuts across gardens.and just about finishes on time.
The manager say if he can do it why cant you
When I said I use a trolley and he doesnt he said to me "it doesn't make any difference "
I said "you try and lift a trolley over a garden fence"
told them "I'm not coming in early unpaid and will take a meal relief and use a trolley " and they walk off
Moral is , do it by the book

Shame that most don`t, blame everone else but themselves.Keep up the good work start on time, have your breaks and no to private cars.

I may be being thick and i am a newbie to the job .....but.... RM made me an offer of a job -
1) come in at 8:50 finish at 1:50
2) we will pay you from 8:50 until 1:50
3) we will give you 40 mins break in that time
4) we want you to deliver letters from this DO to your customers letter boxes.

Now is it me..... but why would I want to come in at 8:30 when the nice RM man said he will only pay me from 8:50? seems to me I would be working for nothing for those 20 mins..... and that would be madness.

why would I want to work past 1:50 when I have been told by the nice man that he will only pay me until 1:50? seems to me that i would be working for nothing for that extra time..... and that would be madness.

why would i work through the 40 mins that the nice man at RM has given me? that seems to me that I would be working for nothing during that 40 mins....and that would be madness.

Now.... in the mean time, if the same nice RM man wants to give me extra work that is to be taken place after 1:50 and he has agrred to pay me for the agreed amount of time that the extra work is going to take me, then that is fair enough and not madness.

fng, the only thing i would query about your post is the lengh of your meal relief.
I think you will find that it's supposed to be 30 minutes, but apart from that .......

I was told 40 mins ! but hey if its 30..... 10 mins extra a day x 8 weeks..... fng sticking it to the man !

Same here... seems to be a tactic sent from on high.

Calmed down a bit as its summer hold and the workloads not as bad but come September when the kids are back...... tell you the truth I'm not looking forward to it as we have a new Lino who's a real bast'rd!
