can't quite understand??

Prehaps it's late, but I just can't seem to get this in my thick head, can someone help. I got that the only performance test is the one minute test, but tell me this, if an opg continually cuts off because he has not got time to prep his duty to get out on time, how else are you to see if he is preping enough other than counting the mail in the fitting. If an opg says he's getting to much mail to prep in the time given by the iwt, how are you going to prove to the dom that more time is need other than by counting the mail?? and if you do count the mail how many item should he be throwing off in say an hour, obviously saying 25 items x 60mins is not acceptable due fatigue, anyone got an agreed answer. With prep (and IWT) there is no "SET" figure that must be achieved there is a target figure but thats all it is.

You might have a frame that is all single slots or one that some, half or mostly double address slots, you might have a frame that has the fillets 2 spaces apart or 1 - or even 3 and greater - all these have an effect. As does the profile of the walk, and the size of the items. For instance if you have 500 1 page 1 fold C5 letters being sent out by the local MP thats going to be a lot easier to throw into the frame than 500 Vanquis "please get into debt with us" letters.

The only sure way of making sure that a duty holder is prepping quick enough is for either:

1. The managers to manage, and accept that one size fits all does not work in real life. Managers should be able to recognise who takes the piss and who works their socks off - but in RM they can't - why lack of training in people skills.
2. Get the trainer or rep to observe the duty holder (with a manager as well) whilst they are prepping and then advise them on a better method, retrain them or agree that the duty holder is working at an acceptable level.

Then the manager will have to manage the situation and come up with a solution.

but surely the problem is that the vast majority of managers are unable or unwilling to do wot they are overpaid to do and that is manage and because of that they resort to bullying in an effort to cover their deffiencies.

I swear to God, I've yet to meet a bigger idiot, and boy,oh boy, having worked for RM for a good number of years now, I've come across more than my fair share in my time.
