Performance Standards

Is there an updated version of Individual Performance Standards? And more specifically, does such thing exist for DTRE/DSA cutting and tipping duties? We have been told by our manager that the standard is X amount of yorks cut/tipped per hour, but the previous managers have never brought this up? This particular manager seems to have a general attitude problem and has a habit of making his own rules up that don't exist under national agreement. I can't find anything in writing about cutting and tipping but there are standards for items per minute on the sorting.

I work in a DO so not sure if it applies - but some time ago I had a manager saying the same thing to me. I pointed out that the yorkies and shrouds could contain different amounts and different sizes of items and that therefore the stuff he was quoting was a target not a requirement. He walked off agreeing with me.

For instance if you have a yorky full of Studio catalogues there are going to more of them to seg and sort that a yorky full of SAGA magazines.

You hit the nail on the head there. I explained that it varies depending on type of mail, size of mail and also personal ability, some people are younger/fitter than others. Trouble is with some managers you explain to them a million times they don't understand (probably more like refuse to understand) and it just winds up the workforce. Like i said, the previous manager never had a problem with us! Laugh out loud!!
