Don't know if you have noticed but unemployment is rising and the government is slashing training schemes and other
forms of support so the plain truth of the matter is there is no easy escape for most in Royal Mail otherwise there would
be a mass exodus to the promise land you thinks exists.

The promised land does exist - there's a better life waiting for you, outside Royal Mail. Lots of Royal Mail staff are 'institionalised' - they've been there too long, and are too frightened to take a leap into the 'unknown'.

But the best thing that ever happened to me was being sacked. Slowly but surely, over the many years, I'd grown to hate my job, but was too comfortable to do anything about it - I told myself that 'it was better than nothing' and that things would get better. They didn't, and they never will.

Royal Mail is dying - the only consolation to staying, is that you will soon see all the DOMs and their many nasty little assistants being made redundant. They're more frightened than YOU, about losing their jobs.

I used to love working for Royal Mail - it was something to be proud of. When Bill Cockburn left was when the rot really set in, but it'd been coming for years. Cockburn was the last of the breed. The CWU are spineless - spent so long alienating the public, that no-one cares anymore. Alan Johnson is the biggest sell-out of the lot.
