the £600
we are due to get this very soon, we,ve had walk sequencing in for a month now, but the rep is off sick, and it looks like its going to be a while. but the dom has told the sub rep we need to agree certain things before it gets signed off. is this true, is it tied to further local agreement. we were under the impression we got it just for getting the wsm in. we dont want to be agreeing to things we dont need to if we are due to automatically get it anyway. can anyone give some clarity, before we are stitched up further than we already are.

Re: the £600
You don't get it just for getting the machines or walk sequencing in. You have to have a revision to qualify for it. With a revision there will always be things to agree, and as far as I know it has to be signed of by the Accountants as well, so without knowing what the issues are in question its hard to give you a deinite answer.daveyeff wrote:we are due to get this very soon, we,ve had walk sequencing in for a month now, but the rep is off sick, and it looks like its going to be a while. but the dom has told the sub rep we need to agree certain things before it gets signed off. is this true, is it tied to further local agreement. we were under the impression we got it just for getting the wsm in. we dont want to be agreeing to things we dont need to if we are due to automatically get it anyway. can anyone give some clarity, before we are stitched up further than we already are.

Re: the £600
aye mate, we got that when dm came in last october, but the dom has spun a yarn to our sub rep that the 600 quid is not going to be paid to ANYONE, he says the asm has told him the finance officer says theres no more money to pay us or ANY other unit for that matter. the dom then said he complained to his gaffer that our office has done everything we,ve been asked to do, so it would be wrong to not pay us.(bollox). so,,,he says, his boss then turned round and said 'ok, we,ll pay them if we agree to a few more 'final' points, but we will be THE LAST unit to be paid.......ANY imbecile with half a brain could see straight through that shyte, its garbage!!! our dom would do feck all for us, they are just trying to get us to agree more. and they are using this 600pund patterspinning shyte yarn to get us to agree.

Re: the £600
the £600 is paid after your revision, so not just when you start to recieve the walk sequenced mail, it will be after you have agreed your revision and implemented it, you will be due it roughly when your 39 hour week kicks in

Re: the £600
we agreed all our revision, and we agreed 2.30 last letter, now they want us to agree 3.00pm last letter, but on top of that theres 15mins travel back to the office/pouch off etc, THEN the remainder of our 40min break which is 20mins, on the BACK of our duty. which is of course illegal. giving us a finish time of 15.35.zx135 wrote:the £600 is paid after your revision, so not just when you start to recieve the walk sequenced mail, it will be after you have agreed your revision and implemented it, you will be due it roughly when your 39 hour week kicks in

so you have not started your 39 hour week then? if not when are you due to start your 39 hour week?daveyeff wrote:we agreed all our revision, and we agreed 2.30 last letter, now they want us to agree 3.00pm last letter, but on top of that theres 15mins travel back to the office/pouch off etc, THEN the remainder of our 40min break which is 20mins, on the BACK of our duty. which is of course illegal. giving us a finish time of 15.35.zx135 wrote:the £600 is paid after your revision, so not just when you start to recieve the walk sequenced mail, it will be after you have agreed your revision and implemented it, you will be due it roughly when your 39 hour week kicks in
oh and just a point if they are giving you 20 minutes of your break in the middle of your working day, its not actually illegal for them to schedule the remainder at the end, as your only legally entitled to a 20 minute break

Re: the £600
this is what they are 'stalling' on.,,,, the fact that we are only legally entitled to 20mins is irrellevant, it has been part of the norm for them to give every one who is full time a forty minute break since the year double 00 blonk. the remaining 20 should NOT be on the back of anyones shift. they know for a fact that if our office has its full entitlement(40mins, same as every other full timer in royal mail) then they cant achieve 3.00pm last letter.this is why they,ve moved the goalposts yet again. see what would happen if they told mail centre staff that they had to take the last 20mins of their break on the back of their shift. we,d be out on strike again. they can tell you where and when to take it, as long as its not on the end of a shift. besides, now that the duties are almost 5hrs long now, h&s comes into it.zx135 wrote:so you have not started your 39 hour week then? if not when are you due to start your 39 hour week?daveyeff wrote:we agreed all our revision, and we agreed 2.30 last letter, now they want us to agree 3.00pm last letter, but on top of that theres 15mins travel back to the office/pouch off etc, THEN the remainder of our 40min break which is 20mins, on the BACK of our duty. which is of course illegal. giving us a finish time of 15.35.zx135 wrote:the £600 is paid after your revision, so not just when you start to recieve the walk sequenced mail, it will be after you have agreed your revision and implemented it, you will be due it roughly when your 39 hour week kicks in

Re: the £600
currently, they got us starting at 6.10am, meal break of 20mins at 8.00am, then the remainder of the mealbreak on the end of the shift which is 14.45-15.05 meaning you are working 6hrs 25mins without a break.

which is all perfectly legal for them to do, i dont agree with it but its not against the law
from everything you have said its clear you've not agreed your revision yet or had the six stage process signed off so am afraid your not due the £600 till it has and dont forget they cant sign off the agreement without the unions agreement, if your un happy with the proposals all you need to do is get the majority to reject them and then lodge a stage 1 disagreement and then follow the ir process

Re: the £600
with the times he has given it may not be. The minimum is 20 minutes so I agree there, however the break is meant to be somewhere in the middle of the working day - on an 8/9 hour day that would be 3hrs in at a stretch - certainly not 1:50 - might have a bargaining chip there.zx135 wrote:daveyeff wrote:currently, they got us starting at 6.10am, meal break of 20mins at 8.00am, then the remainder of the mealbreak on the end of the shift which is 14.45-15.05 meaning you are working 6hrs 25mins without a break.

there is no actual legal definition of when in the middle consists ofTrueBlueTerrier wrote:with the times he has given it may not be. Rest breaks - a break during your working day
As an adult worker (over 18), you will normally have the right to a 20 minute rest break if you are expected to work more than six hours at a stretch.
A lunch or coffee break can count as your rest break. Additional breaks might be given by your contract of employment. There is no statutory right to 'smoking breaks'.
The requirements are:
•the break must be in one block
•it cannot be taken off one end of the working day - it must be somewhere in the middle
•you are allowed to spend it away from the place on your employer's premises where you work
•your employer can say when the break must be taken, as long as it meets these conditions
