If you try to deliver a special before 1pm and the person is out , then later during the round they find you and you scan and get a signiture after 1pm is it classed as a fail?

Assuming you scanned it as "not delivered no answer" before 1pm the first time round then its ok.

this can then be disgarded once they confirm it was attempted and then delivered on a second attempt.
thats why i the callers you dont use a PDA on delivery outdoor as the SDs all fail when collected after 1pm

I checked this out when I first started out on the p+l. As long as the first attempt is made before 1pm and is logged on the pda, a later delivery is fine and won't show as a fail. It's the same principal as an attempt to deliver, item returned and then signed for at the caller's office.

Gaffer told us that if a customer asks for special after 1pm and after we have 739ed it and logged it as 'no answer' on the PDA......we are NOT to let the customer have it!!
It must be returned to the office first!


We ignore this instruction because like him it is patently STUPID!!!!!!!
And they wonder why the firm is in such a mess!

I was told to change pda from delivery to indoor if after 1pm that way it does not come up as fail.Bit pathetic really you'd think the pda system would recognise the item number again and register it as redilvered, especially as one of our drivers who ran over his pda got told they cost £2000...bo***cks.

You can pick them up for around £1200 but preloading them with RM specific software probably adds to the cost.

Never been flagged up when I've done it, on the longer days if I've a special that I don't think I'll get to before 1pm then I'll go round and attempt delivery of the SD, then later on I'll do the normal delivery and I always attempt the SD again.

Its not like us buying software to load onto a machine of your own, rm would buy one disk and multi use licence, and im sure it would be a humble amount of money they would get it for! I would say £1000 would cover the machine not twice that lol
